C&C Generals again... version mismatch, modified version?!
Hi!
I know there are already 1000 Generals Threads, but I couldnīt find an answer for my problem. I have bought Generals and want to play it vs my brother. But every time we try to play I get an error like: "Out of synchronisation, mismatch... player may modified his version... want to put him on ignore list?" We tried without updates the first time... error. Then the update came so I updated my original version and we tried to play again today. But I just tried everything... 1.0 nocd deviance with 1.02 gumprus... online patch... we tried direct connect and network... always the same error. And why is it always telling me my internet IP though I selected my local IP? *sighs* Hope someone can help me... any tips? |

I heard rumors that lots of players get this error, seems to be westwoods fault. Look through the other threads, there's a method that combines two cracks (deviance and gimpsrus) that seems to work. Or are you using the original cd and still getting the same error ?

I am using the original and my brother is using a backup of it (singleplayer is working with the crack (deviance exe and gimpsrus 1.02 games.dat)). But I think we tried all combinations... but if anyone knows a working combination... just gimme!
btw, the "Online Crack-Patch"... what version is it for?

I've played through Direct Connection with:
The 1.2 official patch the 1.0 Deviance generals.exe the 1.2 gimpsrus game.dat different serials (my friend had the exact same setup as above.) I noticed that if he tried to use the trainer that the game would crash out with a "serious error".

if someone is playing multiplayer successfully, with the official 1.02 patch, and with a no-cd exe, and with a revised game.dat, can you please give a complete walkthrough of how you got it to work, cuz I've tried practically everything, every no-cd, every game.dat, to no avail. :-(

i 'm sure that you r not able to play beacuse both the original and the backup have equal serials. try to install the game with 2 different serials, one for the orig, and oanother for the bakup.
also, donload v1.03 update and the crack from gcw. if that does not help, well, imsorry.... i cannot help you |

install the game, use 2 different serials, update to 1.03 without installing ANY CRACKS on both computers...then use 1.0 exe from deviance and 1.03 .dat from gimpsRus, shood work fine..worked for other people i no...

I did a LAN with 1.0 exe and 1.0 dat and it worked fine thru Direct Connect. Wasnt very impress with the game so I havent played since.
I've heard when buying a second copy, replacing the serial isnt good enuf. You have to completely uninstall, clean the regs, and then install with the new serial. |

I dont see anything wrong with gh0sth@cker's post. I suggest YOU think before you post. The offending link has been removed. - Mod
"I've played through Direct Connection with: The 1.2 official patch the 1.0 Deviance generals.exe the 1.2 gimpsrus game.dat different serials" Why did gh0sth@cker have to use diffrent serials, if gh0sth@cker got the original? just wondering. Last edited by krondike; 24-02-2003 at 12:42. |

Found cure by accident
i've had same problem with generals but now i can play it no problem with 2 networked computers... even with multiple computer controlled teams.. the reason?.. i bought 2 soundcards.. 1 for each comp (audigy 2zs n audigy4) no idea if make has anything to do with it.. i doubt it, but i remember some1 saying if you disable the sound you don't get the mismatch error, so it kinda ties in... Zero Hour now works fine as well.. After a million years i can now play link up!!! what do you mean no one plays it anymore????

Im sure the sound cards had no affect on the software itself.
The version mismatch problem usually happened when 2 or more PC's tried to connect with others but had different executables in use. So they were essentially not the same files and couldnt connect that way. |
