Question for Big Papa about DJ and 1 audio track games vs multiple audio track games

Hi Big Papa, I want to start out by thanking you for the great information you put on this board for helping newbies with making backups.

Now my question. Is there a difference between burning a game with 1 audio track and 1 data track over burning a game with multiple audio tracks and 1 data track?? I have an iomega zip cd burner and am using dj 2.xx (can't remember). I can properly burn games with multiple audio tracks (looney tunes and dave mirra) but get buffer underruns on games with 1 track (jgr and sonic shuffle).

Any suggestions on what I am doing wrong for 1 audio track games?? Is there any special setting I need??

Thanks for all you help.

Karen

Just a little more info for you. I have followed your advise on settings for disc juggler. I have the burn speed set at 1xs. I watch the cache load up to about 26% then go to 2% then 0% as it burns the first track. Then it starts the second track buffer starts to fill up (gets to about 80% quickly) then gives me a buffer underrun error. My cdrom doesn't show up as multi session on cd-rwin, but I have successfully copied 2 self booting games through DJ that had multiple audio tracks. (examples in above post). Would the new prog that changes cdi format to nero solve my problem?? Do I need psx copy??

Any Advise would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Karen

I have the SAME EXCACT PROBLEM!

The only game I have burned successfully is Quake III arena which was 17 tracks. All other CDI's that i download (powerstone2,jedi powerbattles, tony hawk 2...) are all 2 tracks only, and they NEVER burn.
I always get a lame buffer underrun... I even tried NERO, when i use thatm i dont get buffer underrun and the cd burns completely, but it doesnt load in my DC.
What the hell is going on???
HELP!

I just recently found a website (www.dccopies.co.uk/index1.htm) that may have the answer. It explains that some burners are unable to burn the 300sector audio track. It explains how to get around this problem using a couple tools. I just found this and have not tried the solution he offers. I will try it tonight.

BIG PAPA
you took the words right outta my mouth, i was going to recommend the site you just mentioned. now if that doesn't work try this..(it worked on my HP burner that doenst support muti sessioning) use the cdi2nero program, even though it is in a beta form..it seems to do pretty well.
the reason some games can be burned that self boot is because there are a few different ways to add the self booting method to a game, one of which..(the one that is rarely used) are thae games you can burn.

if you need the programs let me know, or if you have seen my other posts with the freedrive account info, then go there...

By the way "KAREN" is my mother's name... it's cool to see some women in the gaming world, since they are few and far between.
i have yet to meet one that could beat me, but i still have hope....

in fact if you are female and think you could last a few rounds with BIG PAPA...email me and let me know your game.....

Cool, thanks guys for all the help and kind words. Haven't had a chance to try the method on the website yet, but I will let you guys know if I have any problems.

Yes big papa, I am a women. Been gaming ever since my grandma got my brother and I an atari 2600 for christmas one year. My fav games have got to be racing games, but I got bitten by the football bug when nfl2k1 came out. Gotta love that online play.

Thanks for all the help guys

Tried that method last night and it burned fined but the disk won't boot with the boot disk or by itself.

Pib, you said you got it to work? Did you have to do anything special or did you follow the instructions from the web site to the letter?? Are there any special tags you have to set for the 3 dos progs??

Guess my last hope is the cdi2nero prog.

I went to the buffer underun help page and did everything step by step, downloaded all the programs i needed, and then burnt it with cdrwin. Make sure you burn the header and the temp .iso's
Put the cdi file you want to work with, in the same folder as the dos progs.
It is also easier to start msdos prompt first, then run the progs.
I put the 3 progs in the CDIRip folder along with my TonyHawk2 cdi.
This is what i looked like in dos:

Runnin the CDIRIP first...
C:\cdirip>cdirip e-thp2.cdi /iso
(this gives you the Tdata02.iso)
Runnin the ISO fixer...
C:\cdirip>isofix Tdata02.iso
(It asks for lba, use 11700, when its done you get a tmp.iso)
Running the header extr.(this only took 5 seconds)
C:\cdirip>isoextract Tdata02.iso
(this gives you the header.iso)
Now just follow the CDRWIn burning instructions....

Ok, I think I see my problem. WHen I ran cdirip, I didn't use the /iso tag. What is it used for. WIthout the tag, the tdata02.iso was still created.

it seems all is well here, also try the cdi2nero, it is a bit easier to use than cdirip

Haven't tried the iso tag yet, but I did try cdi2nero. WHen I burned the game in nero it asked me if I wanted to use "Disc at once" or "track at once". I chose disc at once and the disc burned properly but would not boot with either the boot disc or self boot. I can't remember the exact error, but it was something about the multi session.

I will get this to go someday or die trying.

Just trying to keep you guys up to date.

Ok, I tried the cdi2nero and specified trackbytrack at the error about multisession and nero gave me an error while trying to burn track2. I tried the /iso tag in cdirip and that burn completed sucessfully, but won't boot. Any suggestions guys??\

What about the cut and cutall tags in cdirip?? Do I need to use those?? How do you know when you need to use the cut or cutall tags??

Thanks in advance

Karen
