Question Need Help Extracting Audio from Gran Turismo 3...

Just a simple question...considering how people ask to copy PS2 games here...

As the subject says, how can I extract the audio from the game Gran Turismo 3? I've been looking for a way for a while, but I haven't found a complete way yet...

I have the GTFSExtract utility by abrax which extracts the gt3.vol file on the Gran Turismo 3 disc (at least that's the file showed by Windows Explorer). The issue is how the heck do I get that 3+ GB file onto my hard drive? I need the file to be in the same directory as the GTFSExtract utility.

Thanks for bearing with me here...I just want to listen to the COMPLETE ENGLISH version of 99 Red Balloons by Goldfinger while I drive to campus everyday

Thanks again.

hmm to get file to your drive (i guess u r windows 98 2gb file limit)
upgrade to windows xp
no just kidding try this

If problems copying gt3.vol (don’t panic,I will show u)
U will need a FLOPPY (3.5) BOOT DISK(STARTUP DISK)
Shutdown your pc
Insert floppy boot disk turn pc on
Choose to start up with cdrom support
NOW TYPE f:\gt3.vol c:\gt3pal were f is your dvddrive c is hardrive
If it can’t find f:\gt3.vol this is because start up disk could have made tempory drive and called it d.any drives after D r now changed
If your DVD was D its now E.
If it was E its now F. and so on

Well....I've extracted the gt3.vol and I've extracted the files from it using the GTFSExtract utility...now for the hard part (thanks for the help dust2dust...I should have realized that... )

I'm using a program called MFAudio v1.1 to read the audio/convert it, but all I get is a crappy sound file that isn't any real sound, just noise. The files are *.ads files in the \bgm\ directory that was extracted from the gt3.vol file MFAudio's README says that those files are a known file type for the program but apparently it only reads them as a *.raw file and it won't let me choose anything else (e.g. *.ss2 files as the README says they are). The way I convert them is to *.ss2 files then to wav....but they're just noise and sometimes the program locks up.

Anybody got any suggestions on another program to use or what the heck I should do?

Again, thanks in advance for any help given.

Question Zandal's GT3.VOL Extraction Tool

Another question...anybody have a copy of, or know where to find a copy of Zandal's GT3.VOL extraction tool? I've heard that it's quite good on extracting the files from the GT3.vol file.

Thanks again.

I'm sure I have seen it over at www.megagames.com, if not try www.ps2ownz.com in the legal downloads section.

Couldnt you just copy the 3 gig GT3.vol file over and then use the GT3vol extractor and unpack the .vol archive and then get as the audio files or do you HAVE to use the startup disk idea? BTW im using windows XP and do not have a floppy drive and USB wont work on startup. am i good to go just grab the extractor and GT3 and get movin, what's the deal?

Extracting music from GT3

does anyone know how big the 3 gig file expands to when you unpack it to get the music files, geez 3 gigs how the hell does the ps2 hold that it only has 32 MB ram and no hard drive, maybe it sees thru the archive to get what it needs from the disc i dunno, I only ask how big the GT3.vol get on unpack b/c i have about maybe 6-7 gigs left on my HD im gonna get an external soon hopefully

Comp specs:

Windows XP home
1.8 ghz AMD CPU
3100+
512mb ram
NIVIDIA display
100 mb HD
DVD-RW +/-

I love my computer lol
