PHILIPS STILL KILLING SD2 AND SONY HANDLING SECUROM 1&2
'SAFEDISC 2 TOTALLY DESTROYED BY PHILIPS'
( 20 PLUSS COASTERS LATER ) Since byeing my SONY INTERNAL ATAPI - CRX140E-RP (1.0P) and downloading the fantastic CloneCd I have not looked back with doing 1-1 copies of all my games. So my PHILIPS PCA382RW IDE (1.4) became virtually redundant apart from using it as a speedy reader and copying to the hard drive. I have read loads of FORUMS on S.D.2. and of cause we are all still waiting the outcome of Diskdump, and also I read that PHILIPS WRITERS can copy S.D.2. Games, So I thought I would give It a go and to my surprise it copied SACRIFICE - HITMAN and the one everybodys been talking about COMMAND AND CONQUER RED ALERT 2. So this is how I did it CD'S set to DMA and PHILIPS PCA382RW VIA CLONECD WITH FAST ERROR SKIP TICKED, CD WRITER SET TO READ AND WRITE X2. ( SD2 GAMES ) SACRIFICE - TOOK 1HR.20mins HITMAN - TOOK 40mins C&C RED ALERT 2 - TOOK 1HR.25mins AMERICAN McGEES ALICE - TOOK 1HR.30mins NO ONE LIVES FOREVERE - TOOK 1HR.30mins DELTA FORCE 3 LAND WARRIOR - TOOK 1HR.10mins TIGER WOODS PGA TOUR 2001 - TOOK 1HR.30mins CHICKEN RUN - TOOK 1HR.30mins ( HARD GAMES TO COPY SECUROM ! ) THE FALLEN STAR TREK DEEP SPACE 9 - USED SONY VIA CLONECD DATABASE ( SECUROM 2 ) SUDDEN IMPACT - USED SONY VIA CLONECD DATABASE COLIN MCRAE RALLY 2 - USED SONY VIA CLONECD DATABASE SEVERANCE BLADE OF DARKNESS - ( SAME AS S.T.D.S.N. SECUROM 2 ) ( All SECUROM 1 - 2 GAMES PLAYED FINE AFTER FIRMWARE UPGRADES ) ( Got away with using cracks from www.gamecopyworld.com to save most coasters ) Steveredrum |

Sorry to drift away from the main subject :-)
You say that you read at 2x. How come? I thougth the read spead wouldn't affect the outcome, as any errors would flag up whilst the disc was being read? I'm confused - any help greatly appreciated (having trouble with a couple of games myself :-( ) Take care. |
