Most people do only make with Portable instead of that. I recommended first use with PortableApps Maker, and then use Inno to make repack software. Easy. |

I guess its same as repacking games.
install the game or software and repack it....isn't it? no no its not that simple, sometimes it sucks but here are some tips: 1. MSI installers you would use InstEd (this is the only tool you need really,) or Orca (from Microsoft SDK,) InstallShield and/or Advanced installer to edit then rebuild the installer (you can also edit these with vbs files.) 2. Inno Setup installers you would use a program like innounp to extract, you would then need to edit the iss file to remove/add any missing and or useless code from the file, this takes some experience. 3. Nullsoft Installer System (NSIS) these cannot be repacked, best to take these and repack them as Inno by recording the reg entries and adding these with the files to your Inno setup.

Repacking software requires more registry values and system changes than games. The compression part is simpler than games because they mostly contain dlls and exes and you don't need to do much research to compress them.

Ooooooh! I've been trying to learn Software Repacking as well. I've seen people on RuTor and LRepacks do it, but I don't know how.

Software Repcking?? Very likely commercial methods available in 20 years and via called in NetOpsystem FEAD Optimizer... Widely used old times via Adobe Reader and McAffe VirScan installers.. (and more programs?)
First versions called in: FEAD Recomposer / FEAD II Optimizer (2002 to ~2006-2007) Next called in: NOSSO (~2007-08? to 2015-2017?) Last called in: bitWrapper (2015 to 2023) Totally unavailable, not leaked the whole programs. Discussions: https://encode.su/threads/140-Nosso-...ion-technology and https://encode.su/threads/323-Chasing-NOSSO Documents: http://web.archive.org/web/200603140...AD(R)_1004.pdf http://web.archive.org/web/200212112...p?topic=feed_e http://web.archive.org/web/200608111...ish/index.html This FEAD compression techniques used in many game demos/trials called in FEED from circa ~2005 years to unknown times... Likely find "FEED SFX"-ed package any demo games and compare it latest repack techniques. |
