Help! a problem with updating heroes of might and magic 4
Hi.
When I execute the 1.3 patch in Heroes of might and magic 4, when it gets to the heroes4.exe file it opnes an error message that says "old file not found" and that the current file hase the same name but doenst containe the same data.. why is that? where can I get the "old file"?

Have you replaced the original file with a cracked one ?

yes
does it matter?
but also before I replaced it I checked it and it opened the same error message.. Here is the exatct message that appears when the update gets to the hereos4.exe file: Old file not found. However, a file of the same name was found. no updates done since the contents do not match.

Just uninstall the complete game, then reinstall and update!

Listen the update checks the size of the game exe and its CRC.
If both fail to match, then it wont update. Only way your going to do it is to back up your save games, and reinstall the game then update. A lesson to people, back up your original exe before using a no-cd, this way its easy to copy back.

CRC = Cyclic Redundancy Check
To make a long story short and easy: If the checksum (calculated from the file) doesn't match, the file will be recognized as being faulty.

thanks for the help anyway.. but i've discovered the problem myself..
I was trying to install the us update instead of the uk update.( i have uk version..) but thanks anyway one more thing: I put a 3.0 crack and but now i hae no sound in the game.. although the settings are ok.. can someone give me a crack for 3.0 ver? or maybe that problem doesnt have to do with the crack.. thanks
