Final Fantasy 8 & Vagrant story

Hi guys i need some advice please i have backed up copies of FF8 and of Vagrant story the only thing is they will not boot up proply on my modded playstation the PSX loading screen comes up then it just goes black as for vagrant story it loads to the start menu as soon as i press new game and the loading screen loads the game freezes both of these games are uk PAL any advice please.
o ya i am using roxio easy cd copier as none of the other coping utils work.

P.S. I have also copied PAL versions of FF7 GT1 & GT2 and NTSC versions of Chrono Cross and Chrono trigger and these work perfectly.

please can someone tell me how i can get around this please.
