I had trouble with my ground wire. The PS2 mobo ground pad solder was not melting, and causing a cold joint.
I had to touch the actual ground solder on the board (not recomended) to melt it. After it had been melted once, it was easier to work with.

Don't know what you have for equipment but it makes all the difference in the world. My first install was done with the wires that came in the kit and my friends relatively large tiped 25w soldering iron. Decided that I had enough friends interested to get the proper equipment(15w soldering iron, .2mm tip, 32 gauge wire, desoldering tool...)and it makes all the difference in the world. As for the S wire, I have found that it makes it easier if you get just a little thicker layer of solder on the wire for these points. There doesn't seem to be sufficent solder if any on these points to hold the wire.

I forget one of your old posts. When you took the chip out the PS2 did work properly right?

heres the whole story so far. i originally had a neo installed. i took that out ps2 worked no prob, tried installing my magic 3.6 and i got nothing, touched up on some soldering and i got the browser screen but keept repeating the system configuration (meanwhile ever sense i tried installing the magic my laser doesnt spin or move, it tries but gets jerked back), so of course i go to touch up some soldering again and now i just get a solid black screen. so to answer your question, yeah before i tried installin my magic it worked perfect lol

yeah, but I thought that you took the magic chip out once. If so what I'm asking is that after the fist try at the magic install did it work?
