Problem BACKING UP Grandia 2 ---> Protected by SafeDisc v2.5

Hey everyone,

I'm having trouble backing up a couple of CDs. The first CD is Grandia II's PLAY DISC. I used ClonyXXL to detect the CD protection, and it reported back as "SafeDisc v2.5"

I've had no problem in the past copying SafeDisc v2 CDs, such as Hitman: Code Name 42, but I've never seen v2.5 before. Anyway, I attempted to back the CD up using the recommended SafeDisk v2 method in CD Mate, but after the copy completed, I was unable to play the game. The copy did not report any problems, and the CD reads fine, but obviously the COPY missed something.... ...the game reports that the proper CD is NOT inserted in the CD drive and exits out!

I'm unsure what type of new features SafeDisc v2.5 incorporates aside from the regular BAD SECTORS, but obviously it is something that I have never ran into before.

If anyone knows what I'm talking about, or has any idea how to backup Grandia II, please let me know.

Thanks,

Soul

Rite Safedisk 2.51 has some strange weak sectors and has crippled some previously excellent Safedisk writers. Your Lite-on will copy SD2.51 perfectly without problems.
So give Clone CD a try rather than CD Mate.

Give it another go but turn AWS off
then when you play it, if you play if from a burner, then enable Hide CD-R Media to get round the ATIP check.

Thanks!

I'll give CloneCD a try!

I used to use Clone, but when CD Mate was released, it provided an all-in-one solution. No longer did I have to use both Nero and CloneCD, and I was able to get away with running just one CD Mastering software program. I guess I'm now forced to return to he original copy software.

So, just to confirm, before I start this copy, I want to ensure I don't produce another coaster:

In CloneCD, are these the settings you recommend?

READ SPEED: 2X or 4X
ENHANCE WEAK SECTORS: enabled
BURN METHOD: RAW DA0 with SUB (96)

If I missed anything, please let me know.
