How to Connect 2 PC via Wifi

hi , i am having trouble connecting my 2 system via wifi , both have a wifi card i wanted to connect them so that i can play lan games. the only thing is that i dont know how to properly configure both pcs , i have tried and failed. please describe step be step what i should do to connect both systems via wifi in windows xp. thanks ,

Just to be able to post a helpful reply to your question I had to go through the process of registration, filling a form that failed to display my erors in RED, had to open my email account that i hav'nt used in a while, risked being spammed and hence the catharsis.
