surface scan game discs

Hi everyone,
I would like to surface scan all my old PC game CD discs before I backup.

I'm using Nero Diskspeed 5 to check them. Would copy protection cause them to return bad sectors?

If so can you recommend a software, or method besides Nero Diskspeed to check them?
