Yuri's Revenge No CD - This one works

I've searched on this site for hours and had no luck finding any definitive versions of the No CD crack which worked with Yuri's Revenge. The only files I could find took a lot of unnecessary effort to get working. In the end I just downloaded all of them, seeing if anything would work. I have finally gotten it working, and it was more trouble than most people would be willing to go through. So here it is, to save trouble for anyone else.

1. Install Red Alert 2
2. Download and Install the 1.006 Patch
3. Install Yuri's Revenge
4. Download this file
5. Install the 1.001 Patch included in the zip folder
6. Go to the game directory and BACKUP YOUR YURI.EXE AND YOUR GAMEMD.EXE FILES (for the uninitiated, either rename them or move them to another folder)
7. Replace said files with the version included in the zip folder
8. Insert the Yuri's Revenge CD and copy all 4 .MIX files to the game directory
9. Play the game

This should work.
Notes:
First of all, I apologise for any mistakes I may have made in the process of making this available, including permissions, etiquettes or rules I may have overlooked or anything else that I might have done wrong. Secondly, the site I have uploaded this to may not retain the file for whatever reason, so be sure to back this file up and, if you'd be so kind, upload it to your own website of choice and post the link here.

The YURI.EXE is from the German version of the game. I understand that It works with UK and US copies and (presumably) the German one, but other than that I've no reference for comparison. If you want the same with RA2, you'll have to copy the .MIX files from both the CDs into the directory as well. These are the video files, including the intro cinematic and company logos, which play when you start the game, therefore they are necessary for the game to run, unfortunately.

I haven't run into any compatability issues yet, but don't expect it to work perfectly. I absolve myself of all responsibility if you fuck up your computer - this is your choice and if you delete half your hard drive in the process, then you're not only an idiot (seeing as that's almost impossible with the file I'm giving you), but you're a fully responsible one, as well. Good luck, regardless.

One last thing, if you're into RTSs, check out Original War. I think it's a superb RTS, full of character and depth both in the story and the presentation... plus, it's a lot of fun. It's not perfect, but I enjoyed it once I got into it.

hmm was gamemd.exe even protected?
also the crack you supply looks like it was done with unsafedisc, specifying what crack you used would be nice, as you've very nicely made out that you were responsible for this, where you were not...

and whats the point of including the patch in this?

The Yuri.exe file stopped me from starting the game, but the gamemd.exe file prevented me from playing it once I loaded it - it just gave me a dialogue box instructing me to enter the CD. Once I patched both, it worked.

I ought to point out that I am not 'responsible' for this crack - I took two pre-existing cracks that didn't work on their own, and just zipped them up in one folder for efficiency. Like I said, I don't know about the etiquettes in a situation like this, I'm just trying to make it easier for people who don't really want to spend the time trawling through pages of forum posts, PMing people who probably don't post here anymore, going to untrustworthy websites to download spurious reams of broken or ineffective patches and having to re-install the game several times when they don't work, etc.

The point of including the patch? I dunno, honestly. I downloaded a bunch of files, I earmarked the ones I needed to use to get it to work and bundled them into a zip. I suppose I could have left it out, but hey, it's one less link you have to follow.

hmm the dialog asking to enter the cd sounds like safedisc, was it the normal dialog?

gamemd.exe i have no idea about, it looked a bit big to be a loader though...
and didn't look to have any protection...

you patched out the cdcheck yourself?

No, I really did absolutely nothing to the files other than download them and zip them into one folder for the convenience of others. Using either patch on it's own had no effect, but using them together works.

As for the dialogue box, it was 'in game' in the sense that it happened once I loaded the program. It wasn't the standard windows one, although I did get a standard windows prompt if I didn't patch yuri.exe as well.

Basically, both files need to be patch, otherwise you get one of the two separate prompts instructing you to enter the CD. There is also a 'glitch' that causes your units to explode after 30 seconds if you try to override it, which apparently is located in the gamemd.exe file. I've had that happen a lot to me, especially when I used to mod the game, I just never knew what caused it until recently.

In Addition Im also looking for a Red Alert 2 NO CD ( 1.006 ) I tried Mega Games And Burn Copy World and several other sites. but none of them worked. I Would Really Appreciate any help with finding RA 2 1.006 NO CD Patch that works. thanks again for the patch.

Make yourself a mini image, not that hard with sd2 protection.

I tried to make a mini image for Red Alert 2 several times with Nero / Alcohol 120% / Image Burn, Without any success but every time when i start the imaging burning process i get disk reading errors ( my disk is fine with no scratches ) then it just kicks me out of the program.

Disc errors are typical for Safedisc, configure your tool to skip / ignore read errors. Errors up to sector 12000 are usual.

RA2 1006 Patch and No-CD fix tested without Yuri's revenge on XP SP3.

Not my patching was a patcher back in 2001, which was lost over the years. Just pulled the files from an old rebuild.
