Battlefield 1942 problem
I'm trying to help my buddy load Battlefield 1942 The Road to Rome onto his laptop so he doesn't need the cd. I tried several oBF1942 v1.6.19 [ENGLISH] No-CD/Fixed EXEf the fixes including the newest one and no luck.
I get a BFCPRT.dll missing error message the others don't do anything at all. If he has to he'll just carry the cds with him. With this fixed exe do you have to download and install the official EA patch before running the fixed exe or does it only work for Battlefield 1942? His game includes, TRTR, SWoWWII, and Battlecraft and the version is 1.45. Thanks, Delta out... |

The Expansion Pack "The Road To Rome" updates the game to V1.25 . "Secret Weapons Of WWII" updates the game to V1.45 .
Then there was a V1.50 Patch. Now the newest Patch out is V1.6.19 . So when you want to use the cracked V1.6.19 EXE, you have to update your game to that version. The Patch from V1.50 to V1.6.19 is 150 MB !!!

This is a very common problem (I think) to people who have been upgrading and cracking incrementally.
What I recommend you do is to completely uninstall and start over. Install BF1942, then Road to Rome, then SWoWWII from the CDs. That will get you to version uncracked 1.45. From here, I recommend that you upgrade to version 1.6. Then, install the 1.6 no CD. So the whole issue with BF1942 seems to be if you patch and then crack each step of the way...some files tend to get messed up. I have had this problem personally and doing it like I described above seems to have worked very well in the past. The other option is to make an image of disc 1 or disc 2 of the original BF1942 (using Alcohol or something similar with error messages off) and shrink that image using MiR (mini-image ripper) down to 40MB. Then load that image onto a virtual drive using Alcohol or Daemon Tools. You might be able to find somebody who is hosting that 40MB file (but that may be considered illegal software distribution). This way running, with an image, no cracks are EVER needed. This is the method I personally am using atm. Hope it helps! |

I agree Talus. I've had incremental updating issues.
I never use the incremental updates anymore. Seems like everytime I did, problems would come up. I just download the latest full patch and that seems keep it simple for me. |

Thanks for the info I'll give the upgrade method a try first since he owns the game and has all the original cds, just doesn't want to carry them around and load the cd to play the game.
Where can I get the game patch at EA's official site? I already downloaded something from there but it was more than 150MB I think it was over 250MB. Thanks for all the info, I'll post back and let you know if it worked or not. Hopefully it will and I won't need any further help. Also Talus1 how would you compare Alcohol 120 to CloneCd? I have CloneCd but bought it back when Elby had it and I'm no longer eligible for updates. Thanks ALL, Delta out.... |

Delta:
I am really only familiar with Alcohol. I tried the demo for CloneCD briefly but never really got to know it. Maybe somebody else with CloneCD experience can help out? I'm assuming that the process is very similar, if not identical. |

Battlefield 1942 Problems
Thanks guys I was able to get it to work, the problem was after I loaded the game and updated it with the patch, I just unzipped the fixed exe and tried to drop and drag it into the Battlefield folder.
Once I extracted the fixed exe into the Battlefield folder it worked just fine. One question though he doesn't really intend playing Battlecraft or SWoWWII which also came with it if he uninstalls those two games will it affect the other two? Talus_1 I'm sure they work about the same but since Elby was bought out I can't see purchasing another version of CloneCd just to get a more current version. I've heard people say that Alcohol 120 was very good but haven't seen a side by side or head to head comparison of either product. Thanks again you guys really helped me out. Thanks, Delta1 |

>really intend playing Battlecraft or SWoWWII which also came
>with it if he uninstalls those two games will it affect the other two? it should not... but then again, I've never uninstalled SWoWWII or Battlecraft If it is a matter of disc space for SWoWWII and he's afraid of messing up what is already working fine, then just have him delete the Xpack2 subdirectory in c:\program files\ea games\battlefield 1942\mods and that should do it. |

I would use my cd if I could by the dang thing has a crack in it and now i have to get a cd replacement and was hoping i could find a no-cd crack for it so i can play it while waiting to get the replacement cd. anyone know where i could get a working one or how to get the one that gives me the error to work? |
