HANG! HANG! HANG! :(

Guys pls, someone help me...
I've a JAP PS2 10000.. /SwapTrick mod-chip...

I can't play most of the games I've got later.
GT3 hangs after the Kalisto Logo.
GTA hangs after the PARADOX(Loser) LOGO.
Onimusha hangs after I choose NEW GAME.
Devil May Cry hangs after I enter the door in the second mission (the one just at the left of that state holding the SWORD)...

and so on...
I'm sure that GT3 works well.. I tried on my friend's 30001 with the MEMCARD Manager cd/SBox USB chip...
-----------------------
MY Console is very NEW.. I tried them also on a 15000 JAP PS2 and the same results...

I tried adjusting the laser and! also no hope

The man I god the CDs from made them with CloneCD...

THANX

I don't think you're going to find a way round this. Your games are what is known as "DVD rips". They have been made with a larger Table of Contents (TOC) size than that of your Utility Disk with which I presume you boot. This limits you to a backup the size of a standard CD PS2 game (c. 624MB). Your modchip is unlikely to allow you to boot with anything other than the Utility Disk or a Jap original.

The way round this is, if you've got the modchip.com (beta), is to add the OrigaChip to the existing chip. Then you can boot your games with AR2 or DVD Region X. I don't know if the problem goes away on the JAP PS2 (because I now burn DVD-Rs rather than make an inferior rip). But the Memcard Manager boot method works with the OrigaChip.

If you've got the later modchip.com chip (the one that uses GS2/AR2) then it ought to boot with a Jap version of the Memcard Manager - if there is such a thing. Again, I believe OrigaChip will solve the problem. ####://www.origachip.com/contact.htm and you'll probably have to do it by mail order.

FInally - you said your SCPH 10000 was "very new". It's now exactly a year old! You've got a collector's piece if you put it in your loft later.

Hello Charlie,
Well, I know about the TOC of the utility disk.. anyways I tried swapping with my Tekken Tag CD and the same (a standard CD also eh?!).. plus I tried GT3 at another friend's 3000x with Sbox/Action replay, and It hanged after that noise comes up after the Kalist picture (the one with Ryu at the bottom)..
---------------------
BTW....this Origachip will Direct boot PS1/PS2 cdr/DVD/imports/backups with my OLD JAP scph10000 PS2 ?
--------------------
-(You've got a collector's piece if you put it in your loft later)- YES..
-----------
Thanx

Hi - in your first post you said that the GT3 rip worked on your friend's 3000x. Anyway, I've never managed to get a large DVD rip working on my PS2 and if it now hangs on your firend's PS2 then it's a bad tip.

My v1.11 Origachip will direct boot original PS1, PS2 (Jap/US/PAL) CD & DVD
Will swap boot (DVD Region X) all CD backups - but I now have no large rips
Because I have the original modchip attached too, I can boot DVD-R using an original DVD game as boot disk with larger TOC.

You can also boot with AR2/GS2 and Memory Manager 16.

New version 2.5 Origachip doesn't need the original modchip to boot DVD-R according to origachip website.

This will work with your SCPH 10000 but you can always check with Origa or their distributors.

Hi!
Cool man.. but I think I should better wait for the Messiah mod chip it seems to be the best and they say it works with JAP consoles also...

BTW... today I played Crash:The Wrath Of Cortext and it hanged at loading screen in the last stage (when I'm supposed to face that new devil bandicoot) in world 4...

So, the games that hagns in the middle of playing might be corrupted or something, the man used CLONECD (a piece of shit, just ignores any f---in errors, and you get a non working CD)..... what do you think ??? anyways I'm downloading Crash from the net (it's normal CD)...

Thanx

Messiah - fine spec; be prepared to wait weeks and when it's proven it will be a good choice. Make no mistake, I saw OrigaChip as a stepping stone to Messiah because I couldn't wait for enhanced functionality!

As for CloneCD, I have to say it's the best piece of CD copying software around. If the "man" were to set "Abort on Read Error", there would be no errors in the middle of your game. Tell him that!

CloneCD

Open CloneCD.

Click the Copy CD Picture (3rd Picture along)

Select your CD Reader.

Select your read speed. I suggest you keep it low.

Read SubChannel Data from Data Tracks: Checked

Read SubChannel Data from Audio Tracks: Checked

Abort on Read Error: Checked

The other boxes can be left unchecked.

Browse for the directory that you want the image file to be extracted to.

Check the Delete After Successful Write box if you want.

When the file is written to the image file on hard disk:

Select your CD Writer.

Select your write speed. I strongly suggest you burn at a maximum of 4x.

Write Mode: RAW DAO

Don't Repair SubChannel Data: Checked (not vital unless it needs repair!)

Always close last session: Checked

The other boxes can be left unchecked.

Now click the OK button at the bottom.

CloneCD will then read the hard disk and when finished write to a blank disc.

Finished.

I'm getting to the limit of the advice that cam be offered across a forum, esp. since Crash Bandicoot is less than 74 mins. But three more points to try and help:

1/
For the large DVD rips, I woul d now have pointed you to the post I made on Friday concerning rips > 650MB. You should try that anyway with your earlier problem.

2/
In relation to the Crash Bandicoot problem, I have found the odd occasion where Paradox UP doesn't work (before I got the OrigaChip), then the ASA Patcher did the job in those cases. You should check two things here:

a) There should be a file on the game you are trying to boot called: PBPX_952.02
(The original game will have this file called SCES_nnn.01 or something)

b) The SYSTEM or SYSTEM.CNF file should point to PBPX_952.02 when inspected with NOTEPAD.EXE

3/
You may, of course have more than 1 problem. The earlier issues being > 650MB and the Crash Bandicoot being a bad download. Does anything you copy from an original with CloneCD work? I think we ruled out a problem with the SCPH 10000 because you could replicate the problem with the 15000.

Keep us posted.

Hi,

IF crash hangs on world 4 then you have the dodgey version of it, there were 2 versions sent out on DVD RIPs one that worked one that didnt you have the crap one. The guy who copyied it for you has used the right software to make backups its NOT his fault that crash hangs its the guys who never did the RIP properly in the first place, and they have made a few mistakes on other DVD RIP Releases the past few months, believe me i know i have them!!!

Cheers

Dal

HELLO!
Charlie man, I tried ur Method but didn't work for me...
So, woth Crash I should try ASA Patcher, eh?. ok. I'll.
Anything Else ?

'dust2dust'.. I just downloaded a CDRWIN Image of CRASH BANDICOOT, Kalisto release, with PAL/NTSC Selector ('Dal' that's different version then the one I had before, so what?)... I Patch the Downloaded Image then BURN It to a CD (I've a PlexWriter) and try on my JAP 10000 PS2/SWAPPING with my UTILITY DISK..

Back to you again Charlie man, well, of course there's a file named 'PBPX_952.02' on the game CD. and the SYSTEM.CNF pointing to it. (After I Patch the CD of course).. I've the .SFV file for CRASH BANDICOOT.. and all files are 'GOOD' ...(It's a different realse then the one I had before).

I've a lot of games working well, Yes...
I just have one Original Game CD (Tekken Tag), and It works when I back it up, yes.. (with CloneCD or CDRWIN)...

Thanx.

P.S. to my other reply to you:

And, of course you could send me the burned Crash Bandicoot and we'll find out what's what.

Cheers
