using a dvd writer to backup an ethernet network?

This is done, but usually with server appliances that buffer and image the data first - expensive. I heard though, there are Ethernet DVD Writers, that connect right to the network. Anyone hear of any?

Just as an "el cheapo" solution, you can just enable the caching of network files in your CD/DVD burner software. Then all files, that are on the network, are copied onto the local machine before actually starting to burn the CD/DVD. Good luck!
