Trying to clone an executer pro 2 mod chip
I've had someone install an executer pro 2 clone mod chip and would like to know how he went about making it. I've done some research and found that the chip used was probable a PIC 12C508A. I know there is a way to flash the chip with the executer 2 bios and the technique is somewhat as follows:
1. Find a PC motherboard with a chip similiar to a PIC 12C508A and then remove the solder off of it so it can easily be removed and replaced. (However, do not remove the BIOS chip yet) 2. Turn the computer on and boot to DOS. Then while the computer is running switch chips (the normal BIOS chip with the blank PIC 12C508A chip). 3. Flash the new chip with the Executor 2 BIOS and then again switch the two chips. 4. Install this new chip in the XBOX.... I would like to know if there is a more exact tutorial on how I could go about doing this whole process. Also, is there a reliable location where I can get the Executor 2 BIOS and the ISO for the DVD-R I will need when I first start up the XBOX with the new chip. |

Unless you have decent space and equipment for a production facility it's not even worth it. Quit being a tight a$$ and pony up the $35.
Yes, there is a great place to download software. Just read the post named "Xbox forum rules" rule #1 and it will give you your answer.

it's not really about the money. I already have a mod chip installed in my xbox. I have an Xecutor2. I just want to know how to clone the chip and install the software. Plus, I think there are ways to do it that are very inexpensive.
I was wondering if I could go and buy a blank microchip from somewhere like Fry's and use my computer and/or buy some more hardware at Fry's to clone the Xecutor2. The guy that installed my chip was able to do it and he said it was cheap but time consuming to learn. So basically I just want to learn what process he used to clone the chip and install all the softare he did on my Xbox. If anyone has a usefull answer please let me know. |

What your talking about doing is called a "cheap mod". All modchip are really the same, they may look a little diff. but most of them wire in the same and the all do the same.

How do I go about doing a cheap mod? I live next door to a Fry's Electronics store and basically have a moderate understanding of a PC and hardware inside. I basically want to build a mod chip from scratch. I was wondering if there is a step by step tutorial on how to do this.

That link is interesting.
But I still think it's more trouble than it's worth.

CheapLPC programmer
That's perfect and exactly what I wanted to know. Thanks.
I also went to this link http://warmcat.com/milksop/cheapLPC.html to see how I could program the chip from my PC. I am trying to build the CheapLPC programmer and am stuck. If you read on the site, and go down to the stripboard version of the programmer there are some questions that come to mind. I currently have: the strip board, the IC chip (74HC14), the PLCC socket, the resisters, and diodes. I am not an electrical engineer so I cannot figure out what those three things are at the bottom of his schematics. The purple circle with the gray in the middle, the gray half circle, and the little orange thing next to it. I have no idea what these things are. I also don't understand why and for what purpose there are two different voltages on the right side (+5V and +3.3V)? Also, what do the little circles distributed all around the stripboard stand for (I am talking about the cirlces that are enclosed by another circle)? I think it stands for creating an opening and removing the connect in the copper strip but I do not know. If anyone out there knows how to build one of these programmers please let me know. Thanks.
