You can compress it more by separating WWise sound files..
For all *.ba2 files - xtool:mstarfield+xtool:mreflate+srep+lolz For all *.bk2 files - xtool:c256mb:mbk2:df20p For all WWise - srep+ lzma (bcm/msc + srep +lzma) For everything else - srep+lolz |

What about size? It can be under 70gb? Using lolz IMO not worth it

Compression under Process with the DSG. Will share every detail with extraction time and all. However, I checked those WWise and compressed them separately using xtool:mstarfield+xtool:reflate+srep+lolz.
19.3GB >> 6.98GB With approx. 2 minutes of decompression time on my installer on high end PC on SSD. Last edited by Fak Eid; 05-09-2023 at 11:35. |

I managed to put it under 71.8GB
Here are my logs: Data-01 | *.ba2 (except WWise files) Quote:
I separated out the WWise files because the conversion method used to give me CRC error when i included both in one. You can still experiment yourself Quote:

Total unpacking Time: 15-18 minutes SSD to HDD [High End PC] Edit 1: srep_new:3 vs xtool:dd3 have absolutely no size difference on file size. I ran few tests on big files. There was not much difference in extraction speed/time between both the methods too. Edit 2: If you want better compression size on Data-01 (don't try on Data-02), you can try precomp at cost of extraction speed [Thanks to sc00t3r for this] Last edited by Fak Eid; 08-09-2023 at 09:08. |

Actually, using dd without any number, is xtool internal deduplication without srep, which might lead to bigger output sizes.
Example for "Starfield - Textures01.ba2": First is xtool internal deduplication (dd), second is with srep (dd#) Code:
Streams: 15714 / 15714 Time: 00:00:52 (CPU 00:04:52) Duplicates: 4795 (170 MB) [1.09 GB >> 1.37 GB] Size: 4.00 GB >> 5.06 GB >> 3.69 GB Additional decoding memory is 133 MB Decoding speed improved by up to 1.38x Done!!! --- Streams: 15714 / 15714 Time: 00:00:57 (CPU 00:04:59) Duplicates: 4795 (170 MB) [1.09 GB >> 1.37 GB] Srep decompression memory: 259 MB Size: 4.00 GB >> 5.06 GB >> 3.69 GB >> 3.12 GB Additional decoding memory is 133 MB Decoding speed improved by up to 1.38x Done!!!

lolz on sound files? Really?
If you have some spare time, try lzma, lzma2, zstd, bcm, razor instead. From my last tests, zstd had some good results (default settings).

I tried lzma, got around 10GB
bcm was around 7.7GB (not exact size but something around this) haven't tried rzr/zstd, but once I'll do a final compression, I'll share all the logs with their extraction time. if you want I can share you the file and my setup.exe. Edit 1: RZR 10GB Edit 2: zstd (max) 9.57GB Last edited by Fak Eid; 06-09-2023 at 03:53. |

Either you can see it by just looking at the file names (example: "Starfield - WwiseSounds01.ba2"), or by using HxD and search for wem specific texts, like this
And now, how about to know if you can compress them with msc/xtool:mflac.. Just test it lol In this case for Starfield, you cannot use msc or xtool:mflac, because the wem files are encoded with ogg vorbis.

I don't know how you can skip. Not completely aware about DSG coding, but this is how I did.
I moved all the WWise files out in a separate folder. Like Starfiled > Data > *.ba2 (except WWise) and New Folder > Data > WWise * .ba2 files And then, compressed Starfield and New Folder separately. If you have trouble, you can DM me privately on topic |
