ok BIG PAPA I'll bet I have one that you havent heard of yet!!!! my box is greyed out also but i can burn most of the older self boot games.. its just as of late that i get errors when trying to burn.. I get a " no seek complete " error ?? have you ever heard of this error? when i start to burn the file will buffer up to like 56% and then give me the error?? I am useing an ACER CRW8432A . any help from you or anyone would be great !
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

use these settings

check these boxes

ignore read errors
raw read/write
edc/ecc

if writing and verifying, only write and disable verify

turn off burnproof

max image size set to 80 min.

this will get you past the illegal parameter or no seek error.

i get this no seek error on tony hawk for the first 5 min of reading, then it reads fine, burns away and boots fine in my dc. i think frogger 2 has the same no seek error in the middle of reading.

i am using a yamaha 8424ez IDE

are you copying directly from the cd reader to recorder on the fly. if so that may be your problem.

try setting the burn speed slide bar to copy to an image first.

IDE drives need to copy to an image first to work best.

older burners have trouble with the newer self booting games. what is the exact make and model of your burner.

BIG PAPA
to "krash" you need to turn off the "auto insert notification"

>>>I-246 11/20/00 2:31:22 PM - UI Manager: User name: me on CX829377-A, ID: -, Notes: -
W-380 11/20/00 2:31:22 PM - UI Manager: "Auto-insert" notification enabled on one or more drives
I-275 11/20/00 2:35:20 PM - Task manager: Starting task ------------------------------------------------------------------<<<<<<

it says right there that it is enabled on one or more drives..if you read my post, i clearly state that it needs to be off or you will get errors when trying to read the cd....

buffer under run - a response

Hi
Initiallly i was dogged by buffer under runs - to cut a long story short - my problem was that
1 my hard drives were not fast enough
2 i had to ctrl+alt+del to close pogam box and remove all progs not in use
3 when burning audio I had to adjust to max speed 2 for recording

maybe if we all submit how we overcame our buffer under run probs - we will eventually build quite a good checklist for distribution

regards
