Bioshock ISO Install Glitch

Hi This is really strange and I can't even begin to figure it out. (And I usually ALWAYS do) Anyway I own Bioshock legally as well as all FPSs from 1998 to Call of Duty World at war. So many in fact that in order for me to play headache free I MUST USE Game Copy World's services to avoid loading in the actual retail CD/DVD to play. So as a result my desktop is always 1 click ready away from ANY of the 67 Game Icons displayed. Its the only way to exist with all of those game choices. Thank you Game copy World! ( I am Due to reward you with a long overdue donation soon. Shame on me for not doing it sooner) Anyway Got a new PC for Xmas. Vista 64Bit, 4 Gig DDR3, 1333FSB Intel Q9550 X 4@ 2.83 Ghz And a Nvidia GTX 280 w 1Gb onboard Tex Mem. 1Tb Drive Etc... So specs Are not an issue. My old XP Rig runs Bioshock it fine. (Its sitting in the corner now, poor boy) So Because so many game cases and boxes are intact in storage needless to say I use a lot of ISO and other images to run re-installs etc. (I got a image saved of each game I own on 2 500gig my books) So in my excitement I started loading all my old game in to finally see how they played on this system. Everything set to HIGH Spec. Crysis, any of them No Problem! (Its the best over any console rig. I will go down playing on Hi end PC rig as long as 1 good game is in the works somewhere till the day it dies!) But Bioshock? I load it into Daemon 4.30.2 the install screen pops and I click "install" and nothing. I kept the task Mgr open along side the Autorun screen. "Bioshock Running" shows until I click on "install" Then it just vanishes from the list. Like a closed program. I tried creating a .mds from the .ISO image no good. Also I have a .PXI image but Daemon dosen't play plextor images. Me who can keep everyone's computers up and running don't have a clue. This is probably due to the fact that I resisted Vista for all this time. Yes I am of the type that thinks MS is way out of their league on many issues of privacy. But unfortunately they are the only game in town for the best in OSs for hi end gamers like us. So...WTFYGdo?

Thanks

Ed

PS: Sorry for the long explain but I never do this. And I'm excited.

Well... U should have a look what the original is about, though.
Throw in the original disc. Will the installer run? Yes? Well, than is your image for some way damaged. Then simply recreate the image and you´re done. (But u shouldn´t use iso* format as it is not capable to store copyprotection relevant data, and as far as I remember the bioshock installer verifies the disc directly after install, so an iso won´t work for this game in any case).
When the original also refuses to install/run there might be some bug in some circumstances. Then U might ask the publisher´s forum for help.

That´s the way u should start to analyze ur problem.

Had no problems installing and playing it on Vista64, then again I installed it from the original disk so as HaGaR said, it might be the copy protection kicking in before/after install.

Also make sure the setup can connect to the internet/isn't blocked by any firewall...

Thank You. But....

Ya thanks I figured it may have been something else. I gotta go to storage and get my Bioshock Original disc. But all of my other .iso images mounted and installed perfectly and short of hooking up my old XP rig to get the .pxi image for a try, (Which I know is good. Plus it beats driving 3 miles to my Storage rental) I got to ask, "Why is .iso a bad image choice?" I really thought for years now that .iso was the most general and generic image to use. I know there are other pgms out there but .iso has been fine as far as I know except in a few past instances but otherwise...iso works! Teach me a thing or two or point me to a comparison article. I normally won't dig around looking for answers to fix whats not broken. I really thought it may have been a Vista 64 bit issue or something. And just a side note for those of you loved Halo and like me wondered about Halo 2 but Vista prevented you from playing it...its got a whole different feel from Halo Combat Evolved. Same render engine Etc... but its somehow "Slow Smooth" by comparison. It lacks that Quick, precise move, aim, and shoot response that the original. Plus the whole dual gun bit confuses what you were used to. Maybe I need to play it more. Again Thanks to all responders. Will keep updated.

If you use a fixed EXE (accepts backup CD/DVD) or no-CD patch (doesn't require a CD/DVD at all) for playing, CD/DVD images of ISO format - which is not designed to contain low-level information needed for any serious copy protection - should work fine. Unless the installer is also copy protected - there's a couple of such ultra-paranoid games.

Oh I forgot. FYI about Bioshock. About 4 5 months back my girl friend's son enrolled in a culinary school in Brooklyn/NYC and an absolute requirement for his enrollment was "ALL STUDENTS MUST HAVE A LAPTOP" so we went to Best Buy and got the ASUS GV50T for him (LOL I picked it out HaHa He wanted a Mac!) My XP rig had the 9XX Pentium 4 you know 2 processor cores but 1 was Virtual and a AGP buss. I got a ATI 1950XT because it was "the" most powerful AGP card left at that time and it easily outperformed the Nvidia 6800 Ultra. (I had both) So before I upgraded to my current machine I wanted to see how things ran on his laptop wich was hailed as a Gamer's rig. And along with GCW's files I got Bioshock running on that from the same .iso image that will not work now. BUT...I did burn that one onto a dual layer DVD to load it into the lap. And...it setup after 2 installs and ran great. So that was what was on my mind when I hit these forums.

Are there different bioshock versions out there? The bioshock setup IS copy-protected, so the setup should have failed installing it from an .iso/burned disc from .iso without patching something or using parallel mounted mini image. Might be some kind of an homebrewed installer here?

Ya Must be the Image.

The retail Disc set right up. Actually I thought it would so i feel like I sort of wasted time posting, I know you guys love this but some people REALLY need more basic help than I did. Anyway If anyone would know or gut feel out why a .iso image that installed ok in the past suddenly won't run at all...I'd inspect all theories to see where the problem arose from. It was one of those things that had no obvious reason and I always like to try to know fo'da future. The image was on a "my Book" with at least 60 others that so far all worked fine. Just wondering. THANKS! Hey how do i donate?

Simple as that: Bioshock won´t install correct from an .iso. Period. If it does, it is a patched image and seems to be warez because it is obvious that you did not patch anything in this case. Got it?
