if you do use a "c" laser in a "r" machine. there is one problem though, u can't set any of the options in ur ps2 anymore, ie language, time etc.

Hmm, that’s weird. What would happen if you added a second resistor to the board instead of just swapping the position of the one resistor?It could short something out though.Can this resister swap also be done on a C type board to make it R type? I’ll have a little look at this area next time I have a machine opened, This info might come in handy some day. I don’t think I’ve ever had an “R” Machine here (except V9’s R’ compatible?)

since your talking sbout lasers, my neighbor has a ver5 which i dont if its the laser or whole drive. After hitting the eject button it takes forever to eject. (5 secs after pushing). Same for going back in. And it also seems to struggle to read any disc inserted. Takes several triesto get a game to load. So is it the laser or while drive needing to be replaced? thanks
