Well, if it can boot PS1 backups then the SCEx point should work.

Sounds really weird if the chip can't boot PS2 cd based games.
A new chip like that....
Hmm... hope that someone that are used to installs and their behavior can jump in and give better light on this...

If not it can be that the chip is faulty or just faulty installed.
I know that DMS3 is very picky on the cable lenght and how they are fitted on the mobo.
