ok, everything is correct except the scrambling part. i edited the tut a while ago and figured out that scrambling katana .bins messes it up. so *don't scramble the bootbins*. all you have to do is extract the bootbins from the image/cd, then just binhack it to the correct lba. it should then boot the game.
hope it works for you. |

Ok, one more question before I try this again. In the link to the game, is it supposed to have those 3 hyphens? In other words, is that the full link?

Almost.... just leave out that ">" after the "//"
Like this: <a href="x-avefront://---.dream/exec/Cop">Dynamite_Cop</a> I've booted quite a bit of games like this while testing PSDv2. Just binhack the boot.bin with the ip.bin and it's always worked for me. For booting with Dream Passport, I've been unable to boot other browsers from anything other than a 45000 lba, but normal katana, wince, and homebrew games work fine. For example: I wanted to be able to boot up DP2, PW 2.6, and DPP from the DP3... or rather boot each from each. Using an lba of 11700 or 11702, I was only able to boot other browsers from PW. It seems to be something to do with the maigo.bin or sg_dpldr.bin with DP/DK. Same reason I suppose you can't go straight back to the game from the "return to game" option in the DK's and DP's unless you keep em at 45000. For this reason, PSDv2 will boot from 45000 so that each browser can be accessed from each browser. Again, I went rambling, but I hope this helps. If you are totally unable to boot a game from a browser, try resorting back to a 45000 lba with the +150 and +166 refs undone too. -Ex Last edited by Excalibur007; 17-02-2004 at 13:20. |

hey Ex,
i've been trying to get a hold of XDP, but the psd.com site has been down. is there another place where i can get it? a mirror to it perhaps? btw, i used DPP to launch the browsers, pw3 and dk3. i put them in there own folders in the root of the cd. they launched fine, but could not exit back to DPP. i used bin2boot on it, which the lba was 0. i guess it has to be 45000.?? Well I just tried it again with 2 games, Dynamite Cop & Zombie Revenge. Only Zombie Revenge worked. When I click the link for Dynamite Cop it now tries to load it but hangs the DC. Before, it just reset it.
Have you guys come across a game that did not boot using this method? I think I'm gonna try using DP3 since I like the layout better (besides PW takes longer to load than DP3 and I can have a better game select screen). But first, is there tutorial for it somewhere? I took a look at the Ikaruga & Borderdown compilation made by jeffma . So far I noticed the the following: 1) Second session starts at 45000 (Will it work if I wanted to start it at 11700? (Excalibur007 mentioned that he could only get the broswer to boot form an LBA of 45000) Or was this done because of Borderdown?) 2) the DP3.INI needs to be edited to match the games you put on the disc. But what are the exact things that need to be changed? 3) Each game is in it's own folder. (Obviously) 4) The DPWWW folder contains images of games. Do these need to be here? I ask because there are images of games here that are not on the disc. What else do I need to know? |

heres a link for dp3 launching tut.,
http://www.geocities.com/wzsbgh/inde.htm its in jap so run it through babelfish. the only games i could not load with pw/dp are the games with Echelon intros. ex. Tennis 2k2. are there any other bins for d. cop that contain CD001? does it have an intro? you can boot from 11702, but use hack3.exe on the bootbins first, then binhack them.

There are no more bins for Dynamite Cop and it does not have a n intro. 1st_read.bin is the only one containing the string CD001. Pavlik, the line with GDDA is to put the first digital audio track for the games that have them (CDDA). Soldiaz, I'll see if I can fully understand it then I'll post the tutorial in english. BTW, an early version of Demo Menu boots SOME Dreamcast games. But trying to find that now would be a bitch. Even finding the ODM loader & the Dream ON loader is very difficult. It's to bad too because the menu system for the ODM loader is awesome. |

well, pw is tricky when it comes to where folders need to be and all. could you post the file structure for d. cop. .....not all the files, but post the filenames in the d.cop folder and the directory names in the folder. i'm thinking you might have to put the d.cop files in the root of the cd instead of its own folder.
i have no exp. with demo menu, but i have with dchakker. its a great app that can load gd's and import gd's. i haven't been able to boot backups with it though. i have an early test version of the odcm demo game menu. it works the same as pw with the ginsu.ini and its really simple. no need for html links to launch stuff. it just makes a simple menu with no .pvr's. like the real odcm does. i'm trying to make a more detailed tutorial for both pw/dp, but i don't have the time. i've been playing PSOv2 and its very addicting. when i have the chance, i'll write them. btw, any of you wouldn't happen to have an image of codebreaker/xploder thats able to boot cd-r's???

Ok there are 17 .SFD files (I know those are movie files).
There 1 .PVR file (I know this is an image). There are 4 .ASF files (I know this contains sound and the game itself). There are 2 .BIN files (1st_read.bin & OP.BIN) only 1st_read.bin has the string CD001. There are no folders here. That's it. I have a selfbooting copy which works fine. I took all the files from there. I'm gonna try other games since Dynamite Cop is pissing me off. Hey could you mail me that ODM loader you have? (hacker3nine********com) BTW, you can only boot CDRs with Code Breaker if the files are sorted in the same order as the original GD-ROM. I had a copy of KOF 1999 that was such and it worked with Code Breaker. I no longer have that copy though ![]() You can also use the craked version of the Game Shark CDX which also works with unencrypted codes (just like Code Breaker) and no, you don't need the Game Shark memory card for it. You can use your own VMU. If you can't find it I'll mail it to you. |

If you're trying to load a game with PW using a folder for each game, you're going to have problems. This works fine for DP, but with PW, the game's structure usually needs to be on the root just as it would on its own disc.
You asked about Borderdown... as far as I know, it must be booted from lba 45000. That's why the DP has that lba. DP can have any lba you want and most games will be fine booting from any lba. There are only a couple exceptions that I know of. Some echelon intros can be removed, as long as they aren't compressed or recompiled into the bin. You can tell by looking at the bin in a hex editor. If you see "lib handle start" at the beginning, it's compressed and can't be removed. If you see anything else... just do a search for "lib handle start" and look for the first "0900" in hex. Delete to that point then binhack it and ur good to go. I just did this with a few of my games, but there are several I haven't gotten to yet. I thought that the into to Tennis 2K2 was removable, but I can't remember. -Ex Last edited by Excalibur007; 18-02-2004 at 10:52. |

ok, heres an idea about d.cop. instead of putting the game in its own folder, put every file in the root of the cd and change the ginsu.ini. maybe it will boot from the root.
since dcop doesn't have any folders, every file needs to be in the root. when its in the folder, the game is looking for a file in the root of the cd, but every file is in the dcop folder. try it out. if ii doesn't work, i'm stumped. i'll send you the odcm files later. ![]() are you serious about codebreaker?? how do i go about making my files on my backup the same as the GD. is it the sorttxt.txt file.? i'm more interested in doing this for PSOv2. is it a hacked codebreaker and what version, 197..??? i have the gameshark, but it doesn't work with psov2 US. or does it for you..??

Yes, the codebreaker thing is interesting. I keep the original file order on all the games I rip, but many of them have CDDA, and I know that it doesn't work with those, ex: Mortal Kombat Gold. I kept the original file order of the data session, but there are 49 audio tracks. :/
I also kept the original file order of Evil Dead: Hail to the King, and booted it from an lba of 45000. I does NOT have CDDA, but codebreaker didn't work with it. Could this be because of the 2 audio tracks in the 1st session? For codebreaker to work, do you have to use data/data method? To get the original file order, (if you're ripping your own GDROM), get just a bit of the track03.iso ripped to your PC. You only need a few seconds worth to get the header. Run isofix on it and put in 45000 as the starting lba of the iso. It will spit out a "fixed.iso". Open that in isobuster and right click the iso and "copy tree info to file"/"lba relative path". It will save as filelist.txt, then run "F2S.exe" on it and it will make a sort.txt. To use a sort.txt just include it in your mkisofs line: mkisofs -C 0,xxxxx -V "Name" -sort sort.txt -l -o name.iso name If you don't have the original GDROM, you have to find a sort.txt somewhere. Darkfalz used to have a huge archive on his site, but I haven't been able to get on his sort.txt page for some time now. If he still reads this forum, |||Please make this achive available again, or please allow me to host them on my site.||| -Ex |

As for the Code Breaker codes, Ex mentioned how to get the original order of the files. Now if I remenber correctly, the KOF 1999 that I had which worked with code breaker was in the audio+data format but don't quote me on that. BTW, the code breaker doesn't have to be hacked in order to boot CDRs. As for the game shark, I have the one hacked by echelon and it works fine with code brekaer codes. I don't have PSOv2 so I can't test that specific game. If you have coder cables or a BBA you should follow the tutorial here: http://darkfalz.hypermart.net/sortproj/tutorial.htm Last edited by Hacker999; 18-02-2004 at 11:44. |
