You can also write the image to a cdr, but this will not always succeed and depends on your burner. If it doesn't succeed, you still need a crack to play with it.

Why make everything so easy. It's kinda fun to
fool around with the computer. Espescially when
it's a brand new one with all the fun stuff. would'nt
you agree on that SPK ?

copy max payne

Well Boys & Girls here I am again ;-)
This time with good news. I think I
finally cracked it (or allmost). I now
have just one final question if you
don't mind ? :

I got my image (through fastdumping with Daemon would
you believe eh ??) and I can now play the game on my PC
with no CD at all using the "virtual Drivers" (thanks for
telling me what they were for...) BUT !! Is it THIS image
that I should burn onto a Regular CD-R now ? And if I so,
Do I have to install DAEMON tools on "My Laptop" as well
since that's were I want to play it ? Is this copy that I am
about to make then "As good as new" and will live its own
life with no support from DT.
Simply put : When I now burn this image to CD-R is that it ?

"The rain in spain stays mainly on the plain"

regards and deepest thanks to all involved

First of all, could you tell us what kind of cdwriter you have ? Make and model please... if there's nothing on the front of the drive (it's a 'generic' model), start Clonecd, select read to image and there will be the make and model of all your cddrives, one of which should be called something like "Stealth" and is the virtual drive, one of which should be the 'normal' cdrom and one of which is the writer. If you're unsure, just tell me all the names.

Sure my frķend (sorry it took a while I had to get some sleep)

My CD Writer is a NEC DVD+RW ND -1100 A
My CD Reader in the Laptop (that I want to play with) is a
SAMSUNG DVD-ROM SD -T.
Lets say I took my perfect 1:1 copy and installed it on
the laptop (I do not have it here, it's in the country house)
would it : Install and play like normal or do I need extra
tools on the laptop to play ?

Talking Copy Max Payne

LORD AND BEHOLD FRIENDS ! IT WORKS. I RECCON I OWE TO YOU GUYS
TO TELL YOU WHAT I DID SO THOSE MISSTAKES
WONT BE MADE AGAIN.
MY PROBLEM WAS 2 FOLD : 1. REALLY BAD CD-R COPYS.
DO NOT (RPT N O T) TRY TO COPY ONTO THE CHEAP ONES.
IT WILL SAVE YOU ALOT OF HASSLE. (I GOT INFINITI 900 MG
IN THE END) 2. BURN S L O W. IN ONE MANUAL I READ THEY
SAID BURN AT MAX SPEED BUT I THINK THAT ONE IS OUT OF
DATE. I WENT 1 X SPEED ON BOTH IMAGE CREATION AND
COPY TO CD-R (HEY ! IM NOT COMPLAINING)
For those out there that want to make a safetycopy of
MAX PAYNE : (I used CloneCD and DAEMON Tools)
1. Open DAEMON TOLLS and check "safe disc" Mode
2. Open CloneCD Tray and check "Hide CDR Media"
3. Open CloneCD and "Read to Image File" (get the settings
according to what Protection the game has) and BURN
SLOW (1x worked for me)
4. "Write from Image file" (still 1x speed) onto a good CD-R
(ie. not the cheap stuff) I used INFINITI 900mb Pro.

That's it folks ! thanks for all the help these past 3 days.
Spacelord

ps. I'll be back with N.O.L.F. 2 later and SECUROM*new*V4.82.01.0029 ds.

I hate to rain on your parade, but if you enabled safedisc 2 emulation in Daemon Tools, that does not guarantee you that you can use that disc without Daemon Tools. That's why I asked about the make of your writer, to determine if it can write safedisc 2 games like Max Payne. So try to use the Max Payne copy after you have exited Daemon Tools (make sure its icon is not present in the system tray) and if it does run, you have a safedisc 2 compatible writer, else you will need the safedisc emulation of Daemon Tools whenever you want to use that copy of Max Payne.

its all about this, http://www.***********/page.php?x=1012685

Look everyone ! It's another stupid spammer with that moronic web game, whose name I will not mention. Note how the spammer's lame attempt at making a link for his little click-fest didn't quite work. Maybe it's because the damn site is on the sh*tlist here and will always be replaced ? Still, it's the thought that counts, so with this our brave little spammer gets sent away. RincewindTheWiz

I used Daemon tools as I was copying the image.
I had "enable safedisc" mode on as I burned the
Ļmage. Is that not the right way to do it ? Is Daemon
tools only useful when you play the game and not
when you burn the image ?
If so I was just lucky but what the heck. I made
a copy that works...

Besides mounting images, Daemon Tools can also emulate safedisc 2. In other words, if you made a copy with a non safedisc 2 compatible writer, you can still use it without a crack if you enable safedisc 2 in Daemon Tools. Since you can use it without Daemon Tools, it seems like you have a safedisc 2 compatible writer.

But enabling "Safedisc Mode" on DT while I was
burning the Image from the original Game has nothing
to do with the Backup copy of the game working now ?
I burned that image to a CDR and uninstalled everything
(Game and DT and CloneCD etc) from the PC, Installed
the copy, Installed the 1-,05 Patch from Drealms and
it works. My question is : Was I lucky or is this the right
way to make a backup copy ?

It's the right way, but it does not work for all cdwriters. That's why I asked for the make and model of your writer....

OK Rince !

Thanks for making that a bit clearer (Close to Chrystal)
As I rote b4 my CD Writer is a NEC DVD+RW ND -1100 A.
Apperently that is OK.
I 'll try not to be such a pain and ask too many Q but
it is just pure fun when you succed in something after
trying for 4 days (not to mention 12 CD-R's haha)
