just to be sure:
you applied the SAME crack on every computer? last LAN is was on we played BF as well and my computer was the only Win98SE one. All others had XP Prof + SP1. But no connection problems. No matter if they started a server or i did. We all used the crack "Bf1942_ENGv1.31_NoCD-DM-.rar"

Yes I play online on the internet as well. There are a couple of other files I copied in from the crack as well. One went into the MultiplayerServer Directory and the other into the Patch Data\XPack1 directory. I do not know if either is really needed but I copied them in anyways.

okay ladies heres the deal with the 'data differs from server' thing. WHEN you install your no-cd patch, you CHANGE your exe file along with a few dll files. If you look at a non-'patched' exe and a 'patched' exe, you'll notice the size of the exe has considerably changed. What you have to do is find a patch that doesnt change the way you connect to servers, the patches that do change it are 'fluffy fluffy' patches made by game copy world (which is a legal site) that only allow you to play in single player mod with a no-cd patch.
Try looking @ third party sites that dont have the 'fluffy fluffy' fixes (IE "megagames.com"). So far megagames.com has one for 1.31 that works on servers, but nothing for 1.45 that works on servers so far. |

Nice informed post. Excuse me while I get some popcorn. The ensuing bbq of you by the rest of our board members should be entertaining. |
