I personally find physical violence works in these scenarios. If somebody rips me off then distance is no object!

Oh no Dust. I wouldn't dream of it! The v3 is yours to repair if Dude2 insists. I insist!

right,

because v3's etc r rubbish from the sounds of things = not many will work on them and also i heard they find it harder to play some backups etc is it worth me getting a new v7 m2 from dust?

wot r your thoughts. cause if u tried repairing myne and then found out it couldnt be repaired i would have wasted more money sending it etc, or even if it was repaired i may not be able to play some backups apparently.

what r the prices then on a part exchange with a V3 badly chipped. are there other ways i can get this cost down as well??

get back to me.

Sony will part ex damaged machines. The cost is around £60-70. Beware tho, they send you a reconditioned unit back not a V7!

If peeps with a V3 (probably V4 as well) want their machines chipped, ur best selling them & buying a new one. Sony havn't created Tonka toys here!

the v3 laser is mostly very weak
would have problems reading dvdr even if chip install was good
normally better brands of dvdr are the only ones that will play

your best bet is a new v7 (pity u not ask before wasting your cash

v3 is worth nothin to me even if i get it fixed who wants to buy a old v3 with nearly dead laser

Have you had a good look at the cable from the memory card to the PS2. it might have been damaged by getting caught or trapped by a screw when replacing the cover.
