This link you have provided to ClonyXXL is really cool. It is pretty obvious which command button is for scan and the result is easy to see. But the program looks like it can do much more. I can't read the buttons as it is all in what looks like German or Dutch?
Is there anywhere to find the translation or can it be dowloaded in English? Mike

There's this unofficial Clony XXL English http://www.kickme.to/Englishclony
Or you can download the one at the official site, then look in the options for the English translation. http://home.arcor.de/bejot/

Ahum.... guys ? Just press "optionen" on the main ClonyXXL screen and click on the english flag to switch the GUI to English. This latest version includes both English and german languages. Shame on you both for not checking

Yep, the wise wizard is correct. Its right there. I Think it is pretty easy to screw it up though because it's easy to miss this extra menu option. But what I nice feature to be able to toggle languages back and forth.
Now if I am looking at this program right, it seems to very quickly and efficiently tell you which copy protection is used in any given case and it could't be easier to use. But it also appears the older version of the program also allowed you to copy as well. Or am I misunderstading what they are saying. They seem to be saying now that they only want the program to be able to inform you of the protection used and thats it. Seems to me the perfect program would be a combination of both. You would have to have a very current clone/ write program capable of dealing with the newer securom V4X as well as the diagnotic tool to tell you which protection is used. I am currently trying to use Alcohol 120% to copy some stuff but so far I keep getting nothing but errors. I'm sure in time I will figure it out but it isn't the easiest program to work with. MIke

No the old version couldn't copy disks - it just gave you the ability to start Clone CD with the correct settings.
And when you are talking about errors what do you mean. If you are trying to copy a Safedisk game, and you are talking about read errors, then it is fine. Part of the Safedisk protection includes read errors from sectors ~800-10000 If you just mean you encounter a problem, then elaborate if you require any help.

Mr Ghost,
Yes, I am trying to copy a safedisk 2. When I initiated the copy procedure which first copies an image to the HD from what I gather, it started fine and then started spitting out errors in those sectors you described. I could have lived with that and just gone with it until it was finished and tried the disc in spite of that to see if it worked, BUT, the copy progress also seemed to come to a halt. It DID continue to spit out sector errors left and right but the progress bar/ % readout, never seemed to progress and was jumping from between 1 and 4% and never went anywhere from there so I assumed it just wasn't working due to the errors. Thanks for your concern and help. MIke

Are you using Clone CD or Alcohol? If the reading of the errors are taking too long you can download a tool called Daemon Tools which has a feature called Fast Dump (you will have to read the online manual to find out how to use this properly). This will speed up the reading of the errors.

I am currently trying to copy Unreal Tournament 03 by way of alcohol 120%. I'm plugging in the proper copywrite protocol as Securom *New* 4.8x. I'm using all the default settings and changing nothing. I initiate the process and it starts to copy the image to the C drive. The DPM progress gets to between 70-77% and then just stops there and sits forever. What am I doing wrong? Mike

Hey thank you for that link. Ok. here is where I'm at. I read all the poop in the thread on DPM. MY problem was that I was trying to read the UT03 disk with my read only AOpen 56K CD Rom. It got to 77% and would not read and complete at any read speed.
So I switched to my memorex writable CD and left it in the max read mode and it read it fine and complete and copied the UT03 image to the HD. The file is there and all seemed to go just great. I then burned an image from the HD using alcohol 120% with my memorex onto a blank CD. It too seemed to go just perfectly. However, when I try to run the game with the CD from either drive, the game tries to start but won't. I can begin the install procedure from the burned CD and even read the read me files but it won't support the running of the game so I have made great progress but still have something I'm not doing quite right. MIke
