Exclamation poisoning recorded cdīs.....how to....

Hi. I was wondering the other day as a part of "an experiment", is there any [chemical] substance when applied to the cd surface prevent it from fuctioning???? What i mean is when you apply this substance over the cd, when you try to put it on a cd player or into a pc it just wonīt recognize it, but the cd will look normal to the eye...... any help would be highly welcomed. Thanx.

glue? honestly, this isnt the chemistry forum.....try acid. ink also works. anything that can get into the pits will stop it from being read-able, until toothpaste is applied

I'm guessing that a see-through substance smeared over the surface wouldn't really affect it cos the bottom of the cd is merely plastic of course - with the data being behind the plastic on "the bottom of the top surface" of the cd.

How bouts putting NO data on the cd - now it's not readable and it looks normal to the eye.

Why o why?

But of course!! Well, for that part, i meant an "existing" cd, for example an audio cd like one of the backstreet boys.....

Well, i guess iīll have to do some research with acids.......

Well if you don't want ppl dissing on you, then explain to use WHY exactly you want to do this, are you just bored and decided to see what ruins cd's ? And saying your doing it for a "Experiment" is not reason enought, has to be some logic behind it

It's not a stupid experiment as it seems at first sight. Some new protections like Tagčs is known to use some type of substance on the reflective zone of the cd so reflective properties were altered. In this way people are trying a lot of liquids to understand how the protections works and how the reader laser beam reflects light so a remastered cd will not work like original does.

Still trying!

Good luck!

i dont think a reflective substance accurately describes a tages disk.....and if your main goal is just ruining a cd, try using a magnifying glass, and UV light

I didn't believe it till i tested it myself.just get an original motoracer with tages and look it through UV light. There is an special zone which doesn't match with the rest of the disc( and something strange is OVER the reflective zone, not over the metalic pressed layer).By now all is posible and keep in mind they will try to fight piracy ( and some consumers rights)at all cost.I must admit tages is a good idea....but too expensive.

Let's wait........

All can be wrong.....me too..

Good luck!

tages more than likely is not something brushed over the cd that can be replicated very easily. we know its a special media that allows, through certain sectors, for multiple data values to be read from the same place. its how the reflectivity of it is, and u dont need the UV light to see it

wait a min....what if this is the key....what if by the reflectivity the cdrom goes over the "wrong" section and that's the key...to go over.....?
