Exclamation Silent Hunter III

Hi

I know there is another closed thread for this game a few threads back...

The only crack avaliable for the game is the one for v1.0

The cracker, a great person, fixed three files and the StarForce was cured.

However, if you upgrade to v1.2 (I have Europe DVD Game), the StarForce protection spreads to more then those three file and well, weather you use the fixed v1.0 exes with v1.2 game, StarForce will be there.

I also used Star**** and StarNightmare to permenently disable my CD Drives, (Infact my whole Seconary IDE) and removed all virtual drive softwares (Alcohol, DAEMON etc), but StarForce lives and hurts more than ever.

I won't ask for a cracked file because there are going to be a lot of them, however, a MiniImage just m,ight work... (It worked with Panzers Phase ?)...

Lightbulb Silent Hunter III Modding

I don't know about subs but you must start a career and complete atleast one patrol!

Only then there will be a true Career.cfg file (not Career_0.cfg) in <type>\SH3\data\cfg\Careers\Doomer, where <type> is either game install folder on Win9x or "My Documents" on WinNT systems.

Once you complete a patrol #1, come back to base and quit game properly.
The file Career.cfg will be there. Scroll down or simply search "Renown" and modify the latest entry. There may be two or more...

I tried the same for sub and there upgrades... nothing but blimps...

Where is the best modd site for this game?

And yeah, no fixx for v1.2 and no mini-image either...

THX!

--> [Yellow.rar: DOWNLOAD] <--

Yellow!!

Okay, so was finally able to modify this game!! Well, it won’t say completely though but lets say around 15%!

Instruction

<Install>\ is the games installation directory which is “C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\” by default.

BACKUP your “<install>\SilentHunterIII\data\Cfg” folder!!!

I have v1.0 of the game so my files may “hurt” your v1.1 or v1.2! If such is the case, you’ll have to do something that may hurt… modify you own files accordingly by using my files as guide.

Else, rename you “<install>\SilentHunterIII\data\Cfg” folder to “Cfg OLD” and put my “Cfg” folder from the zip file to “<install>\SilentHunterIII\data\”

Also, backup “<install>\SilentHunterIII\data\Submarine\NSS_Uboat9d2\ NSS_Uboat9d2.cfg” & then, put my “NSS_Uboat9d2.cfg” to “<install>\SilentHunterIII\data\Submarine\NSS_Uboat9d2\” folder.

Read me Note that if you are in a career, this may not work…

You’ll need to start a new career and select the default setting: “1939, 1st Float”!!

Why 1939!? Because, you’ll have a smooth nice career from start as convoys would mostly be naked and even the deadliest warships would be fooled by simple sonar decoys. So not like 1943-44 where a simple fishing-boat will search you out and start pouring depth charges !!

Okay, you’ll have an IX-D2 submarine. Now, why this one, you may ask? Well, I personally like it as it is the second biggest U2 (the first one being the mammoth XXI!!)

You will have all upgrades unlocked and all torpedoes available including the deadly Type X and you’ll have 22000 of them to make sure you never run out of them throughout the career !

You deck + AA gun(s) will have 99999 bullets of each type !

I could have used the VII-C sub but I don’t like it but still it probably was the last “practical” sub.

Also, the XXI (XIX actually) is the biggest… really biggest U2 boat ever! BUT, it has issues

  • It will fail to fit in side a hanger (or sub-pen) DUH!
  • It will lose its snorkel, radar, radar warning systems immediately as they’ll be touching the ceiling… DUH DUH!
  • It’s so huge that it will be suicide to take it on a regular Sunday drive as the depth under keel would be like 10 – 01 meters during the serious swimming from the base to open seas in regular patrols…
  • IT DOESN’T HAVE A DECK GUN!! DUH DUH DUH DUH DUH!
  • There are more issues…
The IX-D2 is a decent boat with good amounts of torpedoes and heavy deck gun + big AA + two small AA.

Also, I have another file called “NSS_Uboat9d2.cfg” that will increase the surfaced speed to a pleasant 30-40 Knots!!

Plus, with modification to an engine installed on the sub, you’ll be tearing the oceans @ 60-70 Knots!

I have not been able to increase the underwater speed though. Seems like, there are special rules to underwater conditions. There must be another file for that… I’ll keep looking.

Don’t increase speed more than this!! Strange accidents will happen. I was surfing @ 157 Knots and all of sudden my sub started to sink! Seems like the subs rocking and swinging values are directly tied to speed and not the ocean waves… So my boat dipped too much from the front into the water and whammed into the ocean bed @ 130 knots !

My officer said: “Sir! We have a f*cking cool swimming pool in the bow quarters! Oh wait, that’s bad right!? Akhtoom!!

Lastly, the crews have been modified on global bases… no matter which career you start, the default crew will be a collection of elite’ men and (no women )!!

Goto http://doomsoft.cjb.net/ or http://users.cjb.net/doomsoft/

When there, you'll see a list with two files and one fo them would be "yellow.rar"

Click it and it will download...

Sorry for the trouble!!!

I would love to help people out with getting this thing to run from mini image if at all possible, but 1. i dont know how to create a working mini image, 2. starforce would simply look straight through it, 3. i would rather not create a full image just to bypass sf as i would not be able to distribute it to you guys.

hey MouseNo4 check your PMs

mini-images of StarForce haven't worked for some time. they added a content check to the protection to make sure all the data is there (same reason Securom MI's don't work), and it has been protected from full images for quite some time also by checking to see if the data is read from the hard drive at the same time while checking the cd/dvd.

they also have a StarForce activation key required to even start the game.

Exclamation Yellow Modding!!

Hey!

I needed to share a few things with anyone who used my Yellow Mod and is interested in editing...

Torpedoes:

Speed + Range values
Can’t find .cfg File!
Possible file(s) : <install>\data\Library\Torpedo*

Weather:
Weather change algorithms
Want smooth calm weather all times
Kill the damn fog
Possible file(s) : <install>\data\Env\*.*

Deck Gun:
Ability to fire even in a tsunami!!
Possible file(s) : <install>\data\cfg\Basic.cfg

Crew:
Too Lazy!
Always getting tired no matter what I do!!
Remove the cursed fatigue factor completely!
Possible file(s) : <install>\data\cfg\Basic.cfg

Note:
While in a patrol, save your game if your crew is about to commit suicide. Go to you save folder (In XP/NT: My Documents\SH3\data\cfg\Careers\<Your Profile>\). Go to your patrol # (- 1) folder (Say you doing patrol #9 so the folder will be 8). Here you’ll see that with each save, you actually create 10 files! One of then would be “crew_config_<!>.cfg”, where <!> is your save name. Open this file in any text editor and change the Fatigue=?? To Fatigue=0 (where a "??" is you current Fatigue value) for every damn human here!!

It would be easy if you use a nice text editor like TextPad or something that would allow you to do a full replace. In the “Find What:” box, type “Fatigue=” (without quotes) and in the “Replace With:” box, type “Fatigue=0 ;” (without quotes). Note a “;” means a comment and game won’t read this value. So after doing such a replace, your fatigue for any person would change from “Fatigue=??” To “Fatigue=0; ??”! So the old value would be commented. Now load this file from the “Saved Careers” screen.

Be careful that you select the proper saved file! Note that the statistics would be wrong (if you are on v1.0)! If you kill ships before saving, the stats would say you sunk 0 ships but once the game is loaded, everything would be fine and the crew would screw… errr… feel fresh again!!
