I have to agree with bounty, this is a girls game! But I still play it on occasion when my libido is low and I need a make over to pick me up. Dont' worry, a crack will come along, in the mean time I guess whoever submitted the crack yesterday is having a good old laugh. . . I know I would be.

What does it mean "this is a girls game" ???
This is only a game, play and enjoy! Don't criticize people about their choices! and don't try to be God. >>> smilio13 Try to use Alcohol %120, here are the steps: 1- Full Install "Sims 2" from 4 CDs. 2- Install "Alcohol %120" from "setup.msi". 3- Add "Sims 2.CD1.PlayDisk Image" files to Alcohol %120. 4- Mount "Sims2_1_RIP" to "Virtual CD-Rom" from "Alcohol %120". 5- Start "Sims 2" from original "Sims2.exe". Hicks. |

Don't take your self so seriously, you're clearly not playing enough games. I suggest you visit your local game store, stock up on some new titles and ease the stress that is seeping through your pores...
God! If Indeed I am made in his image I may be a close enough approximation to be him.

I'm getting really irritated with the lack of a proper crack.
The Alcohol 120%/Daemon Tools solution isn't a proper fix for me, because it does not truly disable SafeDisc. The problem that I have is that SafeDisc requires full Administrative rights, which means that I have to run the game while logged in as a system Adminstrator. I will NOT sacrifice system security just to run a damned game. If I can't run a game under my normal Power Users account, then the game is, as far as I am concerned, defective because there is absolutely no justifiable reason for any game to require full Administrative rights. Unfortunatley, it looks like the crack groups have been satisfied with the micro-image "solution" because it does bypass the need to have the CD in the drive, but unless there is a way to keep it from requiring full Administrative rights at all, it is not a solution for me (and I did try opening up access rights to Power Users under the Daemon Tools dll files, that doesn't seem to make any difference). Any chance of a proper crack that strips the SafeDisc check completely without breaking game functions? |

I think no, but...
Right Click on the Sims2 link --> Click on "Start as...". There you can start the game with adminstrator rights. The rights are only on the Sims2-game. the rest is normal! |

No game needs Administrative access to run. Thief III imposed such a requirement by deleting all of its system files when a non-Admin ran the game, but it was easily circumvented by disabling write access to those files, after which the game would run without any problems whatsoever, showing that the "Administrator access required" imposition was nothing but programmer malice. The Sims 2 seems to do a check on WinXP/2k systems and returns an "Unspecificed Error" when a non-Admin user tries to run it. This can be circumvented by running the executable with Windows 98/ME compatability. Unfortuntely, SafeDisc is too badly coded to work without Admin rights, so I need an executable without SafeDisc in it at all to be able to play the game properly. |

i just read the majority of everything posted in this thread. if i had a dollar for every idiot that re-posted the fact that the no-cd patch doesnt work with build mode i think i'd have a few dollars.
anyway for you people that actually want to play the sims 2 with no - cd then do this. install clonecd install alcohol 120% and daemon tools (latest versions all trial versions can be found on kazaa) make both programs their own a virtual drive ( this can be done within the programs) mount a copy of each of the iso images found on gamecopyworld one on each drive. make sure you have the orginal copy of sims2.exe in the tsbin folder not these no-cd ones that dont work. if you didnt backup your original file when you tried the nocd one, then tough, re-install the game. in both alcohol and daemon tools, enable safedisc etc. then uninstall clone cd (i think this is the program that causes the error message "emulation software detected etc... blah blah" close both alcohol and daemon tools (dont leave minimized in system tray) run sims 2 with no cd in the drive this is exactly what i did and after 3 days of trying i finally play the sims 2 with no cd in the drive. the reason why i have both version mounted is because i used both and dont know which one actually works. for all you poor lazy saps that cant be bothered doing this, shut your mouths and wait for a new no-cd patch in a couple of weeks. scratch

Using the ISO images
Quote:
1. Install the GAME ( if you used non-working crack, re-install the game) 2. Put iso in easy to remember folder, mine is in my documents/SIMS ISO 3. Install Daemon tools (PC will ask to be restarted) 4. Enable Safedisk Emulation* (Right click on Dtools icon, click on emulation, click on Safedisk) 5. Mount image** (left click on Dtools icon then click on "Device 0: [X:] No Media" then search for the iso, and double click the iso) 5. Click on the Sims 2 shortcut and play the game * I installed the game yesterday and forgot to enable safedisk emulation and was still able to play the game so step 4 may not be necessary ** Mounting an image looks to the PC as putting a cd in the cd-rom drive opening the contents of the mounted CD in Windows explorer, just close the window. |
