cloned CD vs no CD patch?

I am new to this so let me ask you. Is it easier to clone a game CD and use it in your drive or is it easier to install the no CD/patch software to get around it? And if it is easier to clone the CD, how the heck do you know which technique they used to protect it? And how do you get around that?
Here are the games I have an issue with:
HitMan2
Unreal T. 03
Max Payne
