DVD+R Burner

Hi,

I have a PS2 V6, and wish to purchase a DVD burner to backup PS2 games (have a 4 year old son).

My preference would be for a DVD+R burner, as my DVD player connected to the TV, is a Philips (DVD+R/+RW).

Can anyone advise which DVD+ burner is better for copying games for the PS2, as this is my main concern (am looking at the Sony DRU120A).

Also, are the copies as good as DVD-R.

Thanks

But are you certain that you will get Ver.5?
There is no guarantee..Plus let's say thay you wanted to make a backup copy for some are you going to assume that someone else has Ver.5? Not all Ver.5's read DVD+R..Over 99.9% has
DVD-R drives..Take my word for it..Get yourself a DVD-R Drive..
I don't mean to doubt Charlie's word's but Charlie himself got DVD-R drive as well..Same with me..That way you won't regret it later..I met few people who felt the same way as you did about the DVD+R on PS2 and they ended up regretting it later and had to spent additional $$$$ to buy the DVD-R drive while stuck with DVD+R drive..

Get a DVD-R and trust what people who have them say. Or put your money on the table and get a DVD+R but dont come crying back if it doesnt work for you.

Exactly..Trying to recommend Good stuff to others..Decision is yours..If you get a DVD+R drive and then it doesn't work I'll say this much..Some might be nice about it while others will flame for not listening..

I'm out..

My problem is that my DVD player is +R/+RW, and have been told that it will not play -R/-RW.

Hence my dilemma.

Your ps2 will boot up DVD-R movies as well as long as they have been encoded correctly. I do it all the time.

What do you mean by encoded?

I have been told not to play movies on the playstation as it wears out the laser.

Is it ok?

Everything wears out the ps2 laser. Not just movies. It wont matter if you use backups, movies, or original games your ps2 laser will eventually go out.

As long as you keep it clean it will last as long as it possibly can.

Charlie said that V5 onwards would read DVD+R....it's in his help post!

That's why I asked which was the best DVD+R.
