DC and long filename support

I am trying to burn a disk with a selection of files to read on the DC. I am using WinOnCD 3.8 and in the file windows the long filenames show correctly. On the DC they show up with the ~ in the filename (e.g. STREET~1.BIN). Anyone have any suggestions for a solution that allows me to have long filenames on a DC disk?
