Hello,
I own the PC version of Onimusha 3. Cool game ![]() But I also played the PS2 version a long time ago. The PAL version has an NTSC-PAL-Selector. I used of course the NTSC mode. So after all I got the PC version some moths ago. And I have the feeling it runs slower than the NTSC Onimusha 3 for PS2... I played Onimusha 1 PC, which is only available in US/JAP (I thought), and it runs faster than Onimusha 3 PC. Did they really port the PAL mode for the PC, or what? Does anyone own a US/JAP version of Onimusha 3 PC? And if there is really a difference, could a mod help to make the EU version faster? Thanks for any help ![]() Greets

US/JAP use NTSC which runs at 60hz and Europe is PAL which runs at 50hz.
But remember, PC's arent all the same like PS2's. So your PC spec not be compatible with the game or not good enough to play it smoothly. |

Thanks for your reply, DABhand!
But I think my pc can handle this game, because there weren't any problems at all. (It was an Athlon XP 3000+, GeForce 6600 GT and 1 GB ram - but now I have new, and could test it again). Although I used the JAP patch, the game was still slower. And did you mean Onimusha 3 PC JAP/US is as PS2 ntsc? Or did you mean this is typical for many games? Greets

Its easy to port games from console to PC.
All that really is changed is basically the executable to run the game. Which will have to be compiled on a PC. You may have a good CPU and GFX card and memory, but what else is your system doing at that time. Also PS2's have certain graphical hardware that may not be present on your GFX card, so it has to emulate it which will take up system resources. So lowering some graphical features, like Shadows to none usually boosts performance. Also Sound Cards can cause slowness also. Thats PC's for you, great for upgrading etc, sucks for having a specific permanent spec like a console. But yes for all games on consoles (not PC's), NTSC will always run that bit faster than PAL. 10hz difference is noticeable. I dont know why they just dont make everything NTSC these days, as TV's now can support all modes via a SCART/AV connection. Last edited by DABhand; 10-04-2007 at 16:44. |

Closing the unneeded crap processes, deleting the temp cache and defragging your hd can also help you run the game more faster on the pc

Hi,
sorry for the late reply (I forgot my own thread )One of my internet friends owns this game. (He said it is the US/JAP version). And he, too, believe it is slower than the PS2 NTSC version. He checked the fps with fraps. Fraps showed 60 fps. And his machine is powerful enough to run this game without any problems. So I guess it is something wrong with the game. Maybe it is the same as in Resident Evil 4. The PS2 PAL version runs as fast as the NTSC version. However, the NTSC version runs smoother. The PC version of RE4 seems a little bit laggy for me. And the fps limit is 30!! (I saw many screenshots of many people - fraps showed 30 fps) So the PC versions of this both games seem like a PAL PS2 version. The one is slow, the other is a little bit laggy. Very sad ![]() What do you think? http://img160.imageshack.us/img160/3092/oni3fb8.jpg http://img160.imageshack.us/img160/536/oni32fp8.jpg P.S. He uses v-sync, but 75 hz is the limit. So it does not brake the game's fps. Greets
