CDKEYs: (thanx to Godspeed)
To Change your CDKEY To Play My Saved Games:

This was easy to do I downloaded a saved game changed my cdkey to the
same as the saved game file I downloaded.

If you would like to learn to do this.

1) download Hex Workshop 4.2 or any HEX Program
2) open save game file

Starts at offset 0000003c
20 Char long this is near top right side windows
Ends at offset 00000050

3) when you open HEX Program it is the only 20 char near the top very easy
to find.....

Example Only:
123a123b123c123d123e (this is not REAL) 20 CHAR
But in the text editor it's all together there is only letters and numbers.

4) Change CDKEY GoTo:
Program Files\Electronic Arts\Need for Speed Carbon\Support\Need for Speed Carbon_code.exe

Remember to save your save game file before you try this!
To get your cdkey and save it.
So you can play those saves also.

wonder how pissed off people are going to get and how many calls from irate customers ea will get from people who've uploaded their save games to some sites and discovered (after the fact in most cases) that they practically 'gave away' their cd-keys to the rest of the world... way to go ea!

this was exactly my first thoughts when i opened the savegame in hex-editor - they could at least make it XORed or something =)

That's good. EA deserves to get beat up in public over this. The reason they probably try to lock the saved games using the serial number is so that they can charge for the unlockable content on the PC like they do with the Xbox 360 version.

A large checksum (e.g, digest, see MD5) of the CD-key would've also been sufficient to be stored in savegames...
