Red face Metal Gear Solid 2 No-DVD crack - not working!

Hello all.

Yes, I'm new here, and I'm a HUGE Metal Gear fan. I'm trying to get MGS2 to work without having to put the DVD in my drive all the time, I want it to depend solely on the harddrive for its files (I have reason to believe that even after its FULLY installed, it still looks for files off the DVD!).

Now before I tell you the problem, I will first state that I already searched the existing MGS2 topics, and I already read the appropriate FAQ/guide, so this topic really is necessary.

The problem was first that the No-DVD file I downloaded HERE caused the screen to black out (I tested the top one), leaving the cursor behind. But I found a topic that I THINK solved the problem, except its hard to tell, because now I have another one that won't let me start the game!

I get THIS error:

"Failed access to file: e:/cdrom.img/stage/init/data.cnf"

Now, I'm new to all this, I have no CLUE how to burn/backup/crack games, I'm just trying to get my game to run without the DVD, but doesn't that error seem to conclude that the crack isn't doing its job? The game is still looking for a file on the E drive (my DVD rom drive)! Is there a way I can edit it to look for that same file thats on the HARD drive? Any tips for a rookie here? lol.

I hope you can help me! Thank you very much!

Copy the file its looking for from the cd to the game folder.

you may have to keep the folders also

So you have to copy the file data.cnf into the game folder then into stage/init/ folders.

But I dont remember myself having to do that.
