HD Combo

ok the HD Combo kit as seen on Devineo and other suppliers.. anyone here have this thing.. I've been thinking about getting it but I'm not sure on what's involved and if my current setup will work.

1) I have a v12 slimline ps2 with crystal chips v1.0 will this work? If not then what would be the best chip to use with this kit?

2) Is this kit any good or just a halfass solution to a slimline HDD setup (kinda like how swapdiscs are halfassed mods).

3) I would like to hear some comments from people who have used this HD Combo product. Likes/Dislikes?
