Cool Xbox

My nephew bought an X-box in South Korea when he was there for army duty. Anyway he left it here for awhile and I decided to take a look at it. This X-box looks just like our US X-box but is modded and needs a converter to plug into a 120V outlet (Backward US ways). He bought it this way in SK.
His X-box has Uleash X V.0.37.1218a and the Xbox itself is version 1.1. It also says it has a 120 GB harddrive in it. He has about 20 X-box games stored on the harddrive which was not surprising to me but what did surprise me was that he had what seemed to be a complete library of SNES, NES, and some other older game systems and games\roms that were very handy to choose from the Modchips Operation systems menu, or atleast thats what I'd call it. This must be legal to buy in stores over there since he said he bought the X-box modded and with the games already installed.

My questions are as follows:
How do I find this modchip or even a premodded X-box like his without going to SK?

Can you really use a different harddrive in the X-box?

I'm not real interested in putting X-box games on the harddrive since we already own just about every decent game there is leagally...Well maybe putting some of the most played games on there wouldn't hurt in order to save from having to rebuy the disk when the middles start to crack away from taking them out of the cases all the time, but what I'm really inerested in is putting the old SNES and maybe N64 games on it. I have the rom files to most all the games I own on those old systems. Is that what I'd use or am I completly missing the target here?

Is there a way to back up some of the stuff he has on his X-box? If so how?

1) google

2) yes, f drive only for <250, f and g for >250 (gigs)

3) completely off, u needa buy somethin that will transfer the cartridge rom into digital computer usage, and no dont ask to download, we dont support piracy

4) u can back it up to another xbox (if modded) or a pc if u would like

1. Figured maybe that.
2. So that means a 250GB max and whats the f and G about?
3. Not planning on transfer cartrige to digital Computer usage, way beyond my hardware capabilities. Oh and only d-loaded roms to games I already own, thought I made that somewhat clear above but I guess you concluded differently than I expected.
4. How is the simplest way to do this? Are you speaking from experience?

Anyone know how an X-box CD rom drive would work hooked up to a PC? Is this how I can transfer my games to a harddrive or is there more involved?

Here is the deal with HDD's:
any bios will support the f: partition of the HDD to be up to 250gb maximum. After that it must be g:. The drive will be partitioned when formated.

to backup what he has on his xbox simply use FTP to the xbox and transfer the stuff to your PC. Then do the same but from PC to xbox when you are to put it onto your own xbox.

backuping games is done like this:
make sure you have Complex Tools or DVD2xbox (I would recommend dvd2xbox), insert game disc, start dvd2xbox, select backup and then where to backup it. Wait. Done. Remove disc and play the game from hdd...

Thanks for the informaion, it seems helpfull but let me get this all straight becuase I forsee some bottlenecks.

On his modded X-box I did see both an f and a G partition showing up on his menu screen of that X-boxs modchip OS. If I used just one 250 gb harddrive could I set it up entirely as the F drive and after installing this drive will my X-box recognize it so I can format using the X-box or the modchips O.S.???????

A few big questions on FTP for you. Is this what your talking about? http://www.ftpx.com/.. How do I use this in conjunction with the X-box? Do I need something other than a high speed ISP connection and a PC? How do I get my PC to read whats on X-box so I can back it up,,, Is there a certain cable I need to get or can I use something common from home to use for the backup process before my Nephew goes back overseas. I have X-box live but I'm guessing it will not play a role for this proceedure,,right? He might frown abit if I have to take his harddrive out of his X-box to back it up.

FlashFXP

If you use a 250gb HDD
-about 700mb will go to C (this has the xbox files)
-about 5gb will go to E (this stores the saves)
-and 700mb will go to x, y, and z (these are used by games for temp files).

The rest will go to F.

Any HDD with more space will be like the setup above, except only 137gb will go to F, and the rest, with a max of 250gb, will go to G.
