harddrives

when the ps2 hdloader first came out I read that the official 40 gig hardrive that came with final fantasy XI was caple of holding 20 games. My stepdad sent me his final fantasy XI with the hd advance disk not to long ago and I stated to put some of my games on there. I put my hitman contracts, star ocean 3, onimusha 2 & blade warriors, chaos legion, suikoden 3, and shadow hearts in then my hardrive was full. It had 2 GB left but most games are at least 3. I was planing on getting a 120 gig hardrive and according to the official hdloader site it can hold 60 games but since a 40 gig can't hold 20 like the site said it shoud does anyone know what a 120 will hold.

Well, if all games were 4gb long, then you'd get 30 games on there...

I just remebered that I wanted to know if I can change hardrives in my ps2 without loosing the data . If one of my hardrives filled up I was thinking I might be able to get another hardrive that I can exchange on and off with the one already in my ps2

For a safe estimate I'd say the amount that lufcfan stated. I'd say that it would probably be a bit more due to the fact that most games are not 4 gb. Also take into consideration that the HD will be smaller (not by much though) once you format and such in the ps2.

I'm considering picking up one of these bad boys. Just curious though, the NA.... ethernet + modem or just ethernet, I heard the combo is a better choice. Also is a "large" majority of the games workable on the HDD? There are sites that state that there are very few, yet on ps2nfo, there seemed to be quite abit, and a lot of them are new ones and popular ones . Oh well, I've read the threads and visited the sites, and I'm picking up one as soon as I get a new laser. About the HD, 7200 RPM is alright right? It won't overheat or anything? I've read that for some it does and other times it didn't really make a difference with the RPM. Also how would I be able to take the data off the HD and put it on my comp and such for backup and what not? Take out the drive and place it in the comp? or would placing it in one of those external HD cases that connect via USB work?
Is Maxtor an alright brand? I'm thinking of picking up that combo on ConsoleSource HDLoader Combo ConsoleSource . Any thoughts or opinions on the deal and the dealer?

Sorry for the questions, but the other thread was locked and I was still a little confused over a few things. Also sorry if I wrote anything I shouldn't have .

You sure can. You can also install the HD on a different PS2 without reformating and loosing the games.
I just got a new v10 and removed a 120gb from my v7 and installed in the v10. Its got about 25 games on it and all work perfect.

See here for a list of compatible drives: http://ps2drives.x-pec.com

Just make sure you get HDLoader, and not HDAdvance

I just found out what my problem was. When my stepdad called today I told him about this and he said it was because final fantasy XI was installed on the harddrive.
