Doom 3 Can it be backed up even if you don't have the latest burner?
Only in relation to backing up origional Doom3 to 3 CD's (**not mounting image)
This is what I understand so far. -Doom 3 is protected by safedisc 3.20.022. -Not all drives will successfully back this up to cd. The protection is hardware dependent. So if you own one of only a few very recent drives, you may be able to back this up to cd. Is the NO way I can back up this game if I do not have one of these recent burners? Please give detailed info (programs required - i have alcohol 120% 1.9.2 1705. I tried to install Doom3.msi (I don't know exactly what this does I was just experimenting with ways to make a working copy) It would not install. How do you install the nocd (as I said I am not interested in this method however I have no idea how you replace the doom3.exe how the hell is it done?) Should I try with latest version of nero? -I am not using cloneCD -Should I uninstall Daemon Tools (which i never use anyway I installed it years ago) Thanks |

As a follow-up, I used alcohol 120 latest version and used an old generic brand cd-rw to copy all three discs. Then from those copied discs I installed the game (it appears successfully?!). So I am ready to play the game and test it out so I put disc 1 ino the drive. The Doom3 screen/menu pops up. I can select Play. So I do. Then A second screen pops up. This second screen has no options or buttons. The process seems to freeze, the disc and hard drive however are still working fast. I can not go beyond this point to play the game. Should I try backing up with my Pioneer 106D? dvd burner?

As far as i know this version of safedisc needs a EFM capable burner, if you havent got one, then i doubt u can do a 1:1 copy.

If you can successfully make an image from the latest Alcohol, you can just mount the CD 1 image to play the game. Even if I were able to create a perfect 1:1 copy, I prefer playing off the virtual drive.

sure besides, what u can do is save the image on a cd, but as 1 file not as an open image if u know what i mean, so, u just load the image from the cd and there u go

The install.msi file can be edited so you can save this game to dvd.
If you just want to copy to cd's. You can use the no exe fix for the original exe. just delete the 00000001.tmp and 000000002.tmp files.....I have a ton of games that would not burn 1:1 till I started deleting these two files. Don't delete the 0000000.128 or 000000256 or whatever those two are....when ever I make copies anymore....I don't copy the 00000.1 and 0000.2 files anymore. Sometimes it doesn't matter....but there are games that will not burn using any software with the burner I had, till I deleted those particular files. one game was painkiller....another, maybe need for speed underground. there were alot. try it. |
