Soldiers Heroes of WWII
I've just bought this, and it's a fantastic game. Being a Codemasters title it uses our old pal Starforce3. This set me round to thinking. Seeing as there are Exe. fixes for certain Starforce games (only work when installed from the original), would it be possible to log and save any changes made to the registry after game install, save the installed game as an image and then use these files to install at a later date? I know Trackmania works fine when I save an image of my OS and installed games using Trueimage (Acronis), but this file is only applicable to the specific hardware that was used to create it. What I want is a way of installing a backup so that it will work on future upgrades. I just want a workaround for installing a game from a backup, in case the original should become damaged. I'm going to investigate this further at the weekend, when I have more spare time. I remember a few years back, when I created an install disk for Red Alert 2, which had a protected install Exe. I'm sure a similar principle could be applied to Starforce games. We need to find some solution here, as more and more games are using it.
