dvd players do not play mpeg4 only mpeg2 and sometimes mpeg1.

the reason you can not backup the full dvd and keep the full quality is because movies are dvd9 witch holds about 9 gigabytes and right now burners can only burn dvd5 witch holds about 4.38 gigabytes. because of this quality is redused when you back up a dvd

so the only way to backup the full dvd and keep full quality is too wait for dvd9 burners they should be coming out soon but will be very expensive.

also depending on your set up you may not even be able to notice the loss of quality. when i burnt freddy vs. jason i copied the full dvd and did not see any difference

Alright i see, Someone said that also to make the full quality because a dvd holds 4.7gigs, u have to burn just the movie and not the menus, to keep the quality,

I burn on dvd-r, but i could test a full dvd menus and all even tho it will show half quality, test it on a dvd-rw and see how it comes out,,
wow dvd9 that will be nice,,,
but yes $$$$$

most of the time i dont really care about the menus etc lol i buy a dvd for the movie,,

its not like ya wanna watch the extra fetures all the time lol

Thanks again!

you can also use dvd shrink or Nero recode 2, those programs allow you to customize the compression ratio of each part of dvd movie.
for example you can set the highest compression for special features, so main movie get lower compression and the result will be better quality for main movie.

Use DVD shrink or DVD2One to reduce the volume of your DVD so you can burn it onto a 5-DVDr. Next step is to burn your DVD, I use CloneDVD it provides you to look on the extra's, languages etc you want to cut out of your copy and burn it. Or a more difficult way of doing, longer way too, is the BIG 3. This gives the best quality result.

Even if you do only the movie most of the time it may need a little compression. Anything over 60% is still hella good.

I use CloneDVD2 and keep my menus. I only delete the stupid previews (which helps a lot) and other crap I dont need like.

Also in CloneDVD2 you can remove entire chapters out if you dont want them. Like if you wanna get rid of the beginning like the 20th Century Fox theme and such or the end credits. Just make sure the chapter doesnt contain any of the actual movie, you wouldnt wanna loose any of that.

Well in CloneDVD2 anything in the Yellow section is ok with me. Green being the best. If your in the red youll notice pixels in the faster paced sequences on your movie.

As for price, depends on where your from but look for yourself. Its about $50 US.

DVD Back-up

Here is a Tutorial to get Perfect Full DVDs, Works for me EVERY time,

Hello, i know the programs where you get the BEST quality and it comes with the BEST sound, DTS, Dobly D 5.1, one of the programs is DVD Shrink which you have mentioned. Firstly Decrypt the DVD to your hardrive with DVD Decrypter , Download this for free. Then Download DVD Shrink for free. When you have decrypted the DVD to a folder. Open DVD Shrink and select `Open Files` and select where the files are and when the files have been analysed you will see the Sound at the side, you will see the sound DD.5.1 that means Dobly Digital 5.1 (Make sure that that is clicked) then go into Edit->Preferences->File I/O and then make sure Enable with nero is on. You HAVE to have nero, if you have got nero, un tick this option and use another program to copy the Video_TS files onto DVD. When you go to burn a menu should come up make sure the Destinaion is to the DVD Writer, But MOST OF ALL MAKE SURE YOU TICK THE DEEP ANALYSIS BOX, THIS WILL INCREASE THE QUALITY, wait for it to finish put it in the dvd player on your pc/tv and Enjoy!!!!!!

Hope it helps
