Why are BF1942 v1.6 threads getting locked???

I think it's because of breaking the "Two-Week"-rule.

When a patch came out and everyone just ask for a crack only 5 minutes after the release of the patch, when the crackers have the time to crack it?

Wait 2 weeks after release. When then no crack is on GCW then make a new thread.

Now, I hate having a CD in my drive in as much as anyone and I also hate having to run cracks (and waiting for them). This is what I did so that I can play BF1942 updated to v1.6 without having to fish out my CD:

I used Alcohol 120% and made an image of my BF1942 CD (I think you can use either CD1 or CD2 of the Original or Deluxe..I used CD1 which ended up being a 750MB image). I then mounted that image using Alcohol's virtual drive feature.

Voila. No CD needed and I haven't had to alter any of BF1942's content. I do have a massive image taking up HDD space but with 200GB at my disposal, I'm not worried yet.

Now..if you're waiting for a crack so that you can play on cracked servers without a valid CD key..

BUY THE GAME!!!

Having a real and valid CD key will make BF1942 MUCH more enjoyable for you. Instead of being limited to a handful of cracked servers, you'll have a MULTITUDE of great servers to play on with great people. Much more variety and much more fun.

BF1942 is an amazing game and deserves our support. Purchase great games, don't purchase crappy ones.

OK thanks. It is pretty obvious when people say that they need the no CD now to play that they don't own the game. Because if they did own it they just need to put the CD in.

Sometimes, when CD protection schemes cause an extra 30 seconds or so of load-time and even (sometimes) affect gameplay, I'll wait until a crack is released before I patch a game

I'm as guilty as the next guy when it comes to impatience. I just wish they would implement some form of protection which didn't allow pirating yet didn't require CDs to be in the drive. Now, I'm just dreamin
