Fan issues =(

Caca! I just swapped the fan and the thing still does not turn on when i power it up. I did however notice that it did not power off when I had the cover off so i am sure it is a heat issue like people have said. But my question is... what now? Can i hook up the fan directly to the power supply? What are my options? Thanks for your help guys.

I think tylerdurden came up with the idea to find a old neo2 diagram and solder the fan wire to the power point on the board. Maybe worth a try depending on what v PS2 you have.

Yes just get a neo diagram and solder to the ground and power points there. It will turn on at the same times as the fan would have before it was messed with.

I have the SCPH 55000, i believe its fairly new since it is the GT4 limited edition and GT4 has not come out in the states. Have you guys had any experience with the front mounted fans? Do you think that would be enough to cool the unit or is the rear fan absolutely necessary? Thanks again.

I would think the original fan is absolutely necessary. I wouldnt exactly know where to solder to to fix the points on your particular version ps2. Sorry I couldnt help. Maybe someone else that has worked on your particular version can help further.
