clony xxl 2.0.0.6 not workin for me
well its my first time trying to use clony and i had a quick Q. Just to see the proggie work i inserted my diablo 2 play disc and clicked on scan cd. It came up with no protection. I also tried it on the install disc with the same results...so i go under the scan cd options and i check everything (securom *new* on CD, Securom *new* on HDD, Dummy Files, Bad Sectors (and under bad sectors i click on 10 sectors, but i have also tried 1, 2, and 5) and try to scan again but this time it comes up with this error...
Scan for Bad Sectors ASPI layer is not active. That's why this function cant be executed! See options... So i go to options and "uncheck" deactivate ASPI layer and the same error comes up. So i dunno what the hell to do cause i know this game has protection on it. So can anyone give me the settings to use with this program or any useful advice for a newbie that's never used this proggie...thanks in advance Btw i am using the pioneer a06 dvd+- burner to read the cd. |

Attack of the Clonys
First of all, ASPI layers have nothing to do with the protection detection (the latter works at a "higher level") - disabling these might prevent U from, say, scanning 'bad sectors' or something, but Clony will still detect the protection likewise, IF there is a known protection...
You might want 2 give ClonyX 2.0.1.5 - it's the latest version.

It sounds to me as if you have no ASPI layer loaded. There is probably nothing wrong with your Clony install.
Are you running win2k or XP because these, unlike WIN98 do not have an ASPI layer. Firstly, get an ASPI layer h**p://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/support/driverdetail.html?filekey=aspi32.exe I recommend using ASPI 4.60 as this is very stable and has given me no problems in the past. Ignore Adaptec's warning re. ASPI4.60 and Win2K - it is rubbish. Later versions of ASPI, 4.70 and onwards, have some stability issues. Once installed, check on Clony again and the ASPI layer will be active. Suggest you read up on ASPI at h**p//www.ncf.carleton.ca/~aa571/aspi.htm Let me know how you get on. |
