Sony Dru500ax on the way...Question?

I have been reviewing and learned of the previous posts about the Dru500ax. I bought one for my sons computer and its on its way. Just want to make sure He will be ok with it. Backups will be used in v5 fitted with Duo.
Do I have this right???
1. set to slave will disable DMA........will do when it arrives
2. Use RNM ver4.5 or newer..............need to purchase
3. Use Ritek dye DVD-R media............50 pk GO4...on order
4. Happy burning, I hope....

Does this sound about right?

Sounds good, but it is usually recommended to set your burner as master and enable DMA.

You Da-man Biggy ) I got it installed and tested. Perfect-a-mune-do.
My son is definitely a happy camper now. I set it up as master and made sure dma was enabled. Good2go now.

It came with RecordNow DX on the setup cd, should I go ahead and buy RecordNow Max or just leave it be?

Edit: I noticed when I was setting it up that was recognized as a Dru-500a instead of Dru-500ax. It does work good so I guess it is supose to be that way...

No need to buy RecordNow Max when you have DX....

I have been using DX forever... I have also used MAX....

No difference... They are both made by the same people and they are both almost identical.....

Tell your son.. ENJOY the new burner....
