psx 1 help please

my son got a ps1 for his birthday and has had it past the warranty. my nephew came over, they play a game and for some reason it wont power up now. i have tried to look for a shop locally to fix it but have had no luck. does anyone fix them or do i just but a new one........another question, does the repair cost exceed a new one??? i more info is needed, let me know.

Well I would just buy a new one. But my advice for you would be this: Take it to anyone who fixes electronics and get a price quote. If the total price exceeds $40 then I recommend getting a new one. If it is less then you should consider fixing it. I personally wouldnt pay any more than $40 for a repair on a psone though.

No prob man. Another suggestion is, if you have your psone on the carpet or any cloth under it, you will get overheating problems. Because unlike the old ps1's that were large and had vents. The PSone has its vents on the bottom. If its on something that will not allow the vents to breath it will overheat.
