Try cleaning the lasers on your DVD-ROM/R/W using a dry brush cleaning disc. If this doesn't work, maybe your original has scratches and is damaged. Polish and a soft cloth often help solve this (works for me), but if the scratch is through to the data layer, you're screwed.
