Age of Empire II Conqueror No Cd Problem

I recently got a new computer (vaio). It played aoeii conq 1.0 fine but wouldn't play the "c" patch. I got a no cd file (bsk_1.0c.rar i think) which made it, and my other machines on the lan work fine in single player without disc. BUT, now in multiplayer, when you go to start the game it tells the host that there is no cd in drive (even if there is). Help.
