One question.. about a pre -order

i has searching on best buy
by the video game seccion
and i noticed they are preordering a ps2
with a online pack
that says..
it comes out 12 or 10

i cheked the model..
it says 5001
it´s this the new model..
that is out on japan and that everybody was talking
that has new features?

i dont wanna pre order it and then screew up..

This model does NOT have new "features".

It's a new console version, to be sure, that hasn't been released here yet (but which is very close to being chippable if it isn't already).

The model with new "features" is called the "PSX" (ha ha, name reuse... bastards), and isn't out ANYWHERE yet. Japan later this year, here/Europe NEXT year... Q12k4.

Perhaps the features that Startingline speaks of are the ones that were/are going to be implemented in the redesigned PS2? SONY announced something a few months ago about a new PS2 coming out that had IR, support for DVD+ Media, quieter fan and some other features that are cant remember (or maybe thats just it?). It still looks exactly the same though..

Well technically they aint reusing any name... the PSX was only used by SONY as a W.I.P name. Never did they once refer to it (The original Playstation) by that name once it was in the hands of the public. Of course stupid magaizines like PSX & PSXtreme continued to use it.
