Angry Hellllp!!!!!

It's my lads birthday this coming Saturday and I have a problem. We bought him a PS2 which, i presume, has a mod-chip installed (i say this as it will play backed-up ps2 games on compact disc using AR2 v2) The problem I'm having is playing backed-up DVD's. I can't get these to load at all. I've tried a few methods of booting but as i don't know what chip is installed then it's hard to tell where i could be going wrong. I think i have a version 4 (model 30003, 8 screws underneath + electrical shock warning)

How is it possible to tell what chip i have and does anybody have any suggestions as to how i can get dvd's to boot?

Another problem i have noticed is if i play a dvd film, it has a green tint to everything.

Thanks in advance.

OK. Inside i found a small chip with approx 8 wires and a capacitor attached (and also lots of sellotape!)

Sounds like a Neo2.2. There is a boot method Factoid that covers this chip. Major swap method!
